He said he'll be playing for the Drew League. What does that mean? I thought he was done. If he's not, SIGN HIM!!

Why would we sign this headcase on the team?

He's done in the NBA. There's a pretty big difference between messing around playing summer ball and practicing/playing every day, travelling non-stop, dealing with media every day, etc.

It's pretty gruelling to be in the NBA, especially if you have some mental stuff you gotta sort out like sanders does.

And so starts the "this guy's available let's sign him" threads.

Yeah, he's not an NBA player.

He's proven that. Its sad, because he did have some ability. But this isn't a road worth going down.

Clippers could certainly use him right now, at this point they need to take a risk on a defensive center.

^ I could see them signing Upshaw outright from the LAL summer league squad, though Los Angeles might not be the best situation for a guy with an addiction to the nose candy.

Sometimes men are called "crazy" when they speak the truth. When he addressed everyone he was very-well spoken and intelligent. The opposite of what people call him. The drug war has to end just as our combat has to end. I look at him as an advocate. I'd take a flyer on him. He's not Michael Beasley.

I was impressed by the honesty. i could care less if he plays again.

I'm a fan of Larry Sanders the man. I'm a writer (Gonzo Today), usually you don't hear this kind of honesty in today's non-sustainable society.. This is real courage.

I love all you guys on here (as fellow posters).. This statement is one of the things that's wrong with today's people.. Always quick to judge than to show compassion. Everyone is different.

That's not a guy I'd worry about if he were on my team. I cringe when people call him crazy. There are some dumbass NBA basketball players (NFL is the worst by a mile).

If you haven't watched this, check it out.. After a minute of listening to him you realize he's a VERY intelligent person.

Our society lacks empathy. Sign this guy to a 1 year deal (always a 1 year deal) in case he falls back a bit.

I think if you showed someone like this you believed in him.. He'd honor one year deals (or more if he ever learns how to control anxiety better).

Royce White has the same thing but has the IQ of a turd. Larry Sanders reminds me of a "more laid back, and intelligent" Dennis Rodman a bit (personality, not game).

No. Just no. I don't care how "intelligent" he is or sounds. He can't follow a simple set of rules that would have allowed him to make millions of dollars doing something most young men in the world can only dream of doing. Good on him for sticking to his guns, but to claim that there isn't some crazy in the head of a guy who turns down millions so he can smoke weed is a little...crazy.

It's ok to be archaic (I guess). He has an anxiety disorder.. So I guess he's crazy.. :noway:

Sounds just like Royce White.. :nonono:

And there are other options aside from Marijuana to help with those issues.

I get that it's the internet and there's a lot of unknowns beyond the computer monitor, but you never know who or what you're interacting with on the other end. I have years of first hand experience dealing with anxiety and depression, so I'm not coming from a perspective of ignorance or naivety here. Larry Sanders is opting out because it's easier, and he's using an anxiety disorder as a cop out. He was in a situation where he would have been provided with some of the best assistance that modern medicine and psychology can offer, and he decided a jay a day was a better option.

I was a substance abuse counselor in Circuit Court probation for Barry County in Hastings. So spare me your smug attitude. You win, don't respond.
