Yeah much better idea to start Sacre. Who exactly do you think we'd sign with this salary cap space? The idea is to take a flier on an undervalued asset and lock him into a cheap contract. Right now we're kicking ourselves for not doing the same with Ed Davis

You posted what's below in the Free Agents thread, and you're trying to convince me now that Koufos is a good idea?

What they ended up with was a role player and two busts. It seems that both these front offices our completely out of touch with what today's free agents are looking for in a team. At least we drafted a the potential best player in the draft while they drafted a complete project. It's sad that both the Lakers and the Knicks will probably lose their picks next season and play the free agent game only to come up short yet again. I'll take this time to point out that both these teams are in the bottom of the NBA when it comes to analytics. Just throwing it out there.

Hypocrisy? And Lopez is a better player than Koufos. Koufos is a good defender, rebounds well...can't pass, can't dribble, can't shoot. So the Knicks are out of touch, but the Lakers are ok because Koufos?

Tie up what? We cant full up the 67m cap. He'll we can't even move up from 44. How do we manage to fill up our cap when it reaches 90 next year and 110 the year after?

I'm not saying offer him a 12m deal. The market is almost dry for him as well and the Clips only has the MLE . Offer a reasonable contract and at least we will have a solid big man who can at least be a good backup C.

We should at least give Russell, Clarkson and a Randle a chance to play with real NBA players.

No more D-Leaguer rentals please.

I'm not worried about hitting the cap floor. The Lakers can absorb contracts and get assets in the process which is a better solution. Being on the hook for Koufos's contract, who's projected to get the MLE, is about as exciting as being on the hook for Nick Young's contract.

Not. A. Chance. This isn't the same Joakim Noah, he's clearly a shadow of his former self. He's still due a ton of money next year and isn't locked up beyond this upcoming season. You don't trade young, cheap talent for aging veterans due a ton of money.

Alright, thanks guys, that's exactly what I thought and tried telling my fellow Bulls fans.

To be 100% clear both the Knicks and Lakers are both completely out of touch. Even if the Lakers signed Koufos they'd still get an F for free agency, same grade that I'm giving the Knicks with all their signings. The difference is that the Lakers have to do something and can't just sit on their cap space. Koufos is not better than Robin Lopez, but Koufos on a 4 year 5 million dollar a year contract at least fills a hole and he could out play his value. Robin Lopez for 12 million a year is entirely predictable and he won't out play his value or make the Knicks a playoff contender. Phil's signings were the type of moves you make when you already have a playoff team and you need vets to get you over the hump, although Derrick Williams and Afflalo are simply put horrible basketball players. Hope that clears it up.

Affalo is a good basketball player.

It's not so much that Noah's garbage, it's more that the Lakers can't afford to trade any young talent without evaluating them. We're going nowhere and trading rookies for a few +Ws isn't going to do anything for the franchise. Noah would be a better fit on a contending team weak at C, with some younger players they don't have time to develop.

Mirjalovic wrote:Affalo is a good basketball player.

Coming off of a subpar season? Afflalo had a career season in 2013-14 in Orlando. He scored 18 points per game and hit 42 percent of his 3-point attempts. He struggled last season, though, scoring 13.3 points per game on 42 percent shooting.

Afflalo recorded a PER of 10.9 in 2014-15. That was the third-to-last among 107 players with at least 2,000 minutes in 2014-15 -- a troubling number for New York.

Numbers suggest that Afflalo had a tough time on defense last season. He ranked 73rd among shooting guards in defensive RPM, a measure of a players impact on team defense. In 2013-14, Afflalo ranked 65th among shooting guards. This may be problematic for a Knicks team that struggled to defend the perimeter last season.

Afflalo is living off reputation. He was horrible last year. I didn't believe it myself until I looked at the numbers. Not to mention his playoff stats last year: POR

3 3 20.0 0.7-4.0 .167 0.3-1.3 .250 0.0-0.3 .000 0.0 2.3 2.3 0.7 0.0 0.0 2.0 1.0 1.7
