Is the 4th of July an off day for free agency?

Anyway, Lakers always work quietly with low profile free agents. I remember the Ed Davis signing last year was a surprise.

Hopefully we'll start seeing some movement soon. Cant imagine us entering the season being lead by 7 1st-2nd year players.

I mean, they don't HAVE to spend 90% of the cap right now. You don't have to be at the salary floor until the last day of the regular season. Even if you don't reach the salary floor, the only thing that happens is that however much the team is below the salary floor gets paid out by the team amongst the players on the roster.

Same here. I'd also rather have Okafor than any FA this year. I just think we're gonna have to exercise patience because we drafted Russell. Players around the league are gonna want to see if he and Randle are the real deal or not.

This offseason would be alot more depressing if we didn't have at least one front court player with promise--we have that in Randle.

Lakers also made a strategic pick on Russell forcing Sixers to grab another center. One of the three centers plus their Power Forwards are most likely going to be on the blocks in the near future and the Lakers can grab them up.

Randle got the perfect teammate to complement his game in Russell.

This is laugh out loud funny.

Even if the 76ers at some point decide to put one on the block how does that help the lakers? They'll still want talent in return. Who does the Lakers have other then Russell worth trading one of their bigs for? Randle? Clarkson? Thats not enough.

If anything the 76ers outmaneuvered the Lakers because by trading for Sacramento picks and swaps they ensured that Cousins will NOT be traded in the near future to the Lakers securing a top 6 pick. Of course they also got lucky with LMA and other free agents not choosing LA but still it was a brilliant move.

Hey, wasn't the Nash trade on the 4th of July? Maybe...

No, never mind. maybe 4th of July trades aren't such a good idea after all.
If more people thought like I do, the world would be a much better place.

What's with the negativity? They guaranteed Sacre. That's a signing ;)

Philly got the right to pick swap twice (including a top ten protected first round pick) in the trade. If they trade Cousins then there they are a sure first lottery team and there is a decent chance that Philly swaps picks.

Ergo Cousins will not be traded. The kings will ride or die with what they have

I don't know what I like better, the 10 foot pole line or that guy from the GB that always posted "glass".

Remember that guy?

Vaguely. I remember someone dropping "glass" like five times a sentence.

So actually yes.

I'd put money on Cousins getting dealt before the trade deadline next season. The Kings have a contingency plan in place..I don't think they invested $33 million on Koufos for a reserve role.

Funny, I looked at it differently. I see the Kings signing Koufos to play center allowing Cousins more time at the PF spot. With Cousins happy with his role there, he would be more willing to stay.
