Agreed. No way he would be allowed on the floor at practice if surgery was still on the table.

Yes. It's close but I'd still favor Wiggins. I pretty much forced myself to be content with Embiid.

Wow! Your entitled to your decision but I thought it was pretty clear cut that a healthy Embiid was the obvious best prospect. I wanted Embiid all along starting around January of last year. Going into the season all I heard was Wiggins so I wanted him but after seeing a few games I thought it was pretty obvious Embiid was the prize of the class.

Imagine what Joel Embiid might look like when he is 26-27. Shaq potential?

Monteverde Academy. Embiid top left hand corner. 16 y.o. 6'9" 160lb?

You would be in an extremely small minority that feels that way. That's fine of course, but I don't believe that there would be a single NBA team that would agree with you.

Agreed. Bill Simmons wrote the following on Embiid right after the 2014 Draft lottery:

A: Yes — at a secret location in Santa Monica. He wasn’t playing against anyone, just going through a two-hour workout with Will Perdue. Here’s what I can tell you: He moves around as effortlessly as a 7-foot Serge Ibaka; he’s such an athletic freak that he’s one of those “still going up as he’s finishing the dunk” guys; his freakish wingspan might make Jay Bilas pass out; he has been playing basketball for only four years (which seems impossible); he gave up a world-class volleyball career; he has 3-point range; he can shoot jump-hooks with both hands already; he couldn’t have seemed more coachable/agreeable/likable; he’s a hard worker with a goofy sense of humor; his voice is just a touch Mutombo-y (deep with a heavy African accent); and his friends call him “Jo-Jo.” And again — his back seemed totally fine.

News flash: As I said on TV before the lottery, Embiid was always going first. None of these teams was passing on him. Repeat: none of them. The amount of smokescreening going on in April and May was high comedy. We keep hearing his back is really screwed up, this could be another Oden situation … Just stop it. This was like sitting at a fantasy football auction next to someone who kept claiming that he wasn’t going to pay big money for a QB … and then, two hours later, he’s bidding $49 for Aaron Rodgers. The truth is, Wiggins and Parker never separated themselves enough this season to warrant anyone saying, “We’re passing on a potential franchise center with a good chance of becoming the 7-foot Serge Ibaka.”

Wow, from these pictures, it seems like he's actually bigger now than Shaq was at the same age. I don't want him at 300 pounds ever, but I could see him challenging Shaq's crown of MDE: Most Dominant Ever.

Chuck Nevitt - 7'5", 250
Pavel Podkolzin - 7'5", 305
Mark Eaton - 7'4", 290
Rik Smits - 7'4", 250
Ralph Samson - 7'4", 235
Priest Lauderdale - 7'4", 325
Peter John Ramos - 7'3.5", 290
Randy Breuer - 7'3", 263
Keith Closs - 7'3", 212

Aleksandrer Radojevoc - 7'3", 250
Ardyvas Sabonis - 7'3", 292
Ha Seung-Jin - 7'3", 305
Hasheem Thabeet - 7'3", 267
Walter Tavares - 7'3", 265

Of these guys, most were uncoordinated stiffs except for Samson and young Sabonis. If Embiid is able to return healthy, is it fair to say he's the most athletic, explosive, and coordinated 7'2" or taller player in all of NBA history?

I've heard Chamberlain would be listed 7'2" or taller in today's NBA.

Chamberlain was just over 7'1 barefoot so he would be listed at 7'2. Plus he had a 7'8 wingspan.

What's DeAndre Jordan's height in shoes and weight? He reminds me more of Wilt physically than anyone.

Wilt must've been a monster. I've always wondered how Bill Russell look so tall for a guy who was 6'9" and obviously shorter now.

With all the sports science and nutritionists on staff theres no way Embiid puts on weight like Shaq. That would be awful for his joints which are a mess as is.

FYI, this is Shaq against the Sixers when he was age 22- which is Embiid's current age. Shaq was "full grown" by then.

Embiid doesn't turn 22 until march 2016 when the upcoming season is almost over.

Comparing Embiid to 22 year old Shaq in that video, Embiid actually seems just as explosive but in better shape. Lord help us all!

How exactly do we focus on his health? Sit in the corner of a dark room and try to telekinetically heal his foot?

That's up to the doctors. The only thing we can do right now is play fantasy with Embiid.

DeAndre measured 6'9.75" w/o shoes and 6'11" with shoes at the pre-draft measurements. But that was a 19 year old. It's possible he could have grown since then.

If Embiid actually grew to 7'2", I'd be interested what his standing reach and wingspan are now. I think it's possible that Rudy Gobert may be the only player in the league with a better wingspan/standing reach combination.
