At least we got Tyson Chandler at 14mil than trading for Roy Hibbert at 15mil, even with an expiring contract.
Bet if we get Seraphin, Espo is gonna spin an article about how us and the Spurs were both going after LMA and Seraphin and at least we got one of the two.

Exactly. If he's good in our system we have a solid backup big. If he sucks no big deal he's cheap. If he explodes we have a trade asset.

He's probably the best PF we can get at this point who fits our team's age window without paying more than we should.
I think people forget that fry was a min contact guy who was almost out of the league before he got here and diaw was a throw in in the Joe Johnson s&t. A good gm needs to find these low cost guys who either didn't fit the system they were in or just didn't get a shot.

Mcd needs to unearth some gems.

And he still destroyed our interior defense when we played Dallas last season. Man I hope Chandler will improve our defense this year

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2015/07/04/suns-find-another-reason-to-dislike-the-spurs/29724067/

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed that the Suns and Spurs were the finalists for the services of the All-Star forward. The person said the presence of Aldridge's family in Texas "pushed it over the top for San Antonio."

I guess now geographical locations have become deciding factors? These stars act like they have an office job. I just think that using your family as an excuse to go somewhere is just ridiculous. Nash said he wanted to go to LA and be closer to his kids but when his wife wanted to move them there permanently he was against the idea.

Mixing your personal life with your professional life is a recipe for disaster. Ask any player in the NBA about what lasts longer their relationships or their guaranteed NBA contracts. In fact why not ask Dwight Howard. Mental midgets everywhere.

He needs to be professional but I don't think I'd say right now he needs to grow up...I think most of his troubles have been a result of trying to be a good brother occasionally over being a great Suns player. Now he can focus on the latter.

Yup, and we should trust McD a bit when it comes to scouting. That's supposed to be his forte. If he can't identify talent then he's not going to be a GM long.

Only in recent years has this team not had at least one true all star on the team. Going back to the late 80's, they always had stars and were major players in free agency. What's worse is that we didn't push for a second meeting. I'm just curious why Pop needed one but apparently we didn't feel the need or got shot down. I think we deserve to know what went wrong :noway:
dude **** off on this second meeting bull. Seriously you think the front office didn't want a second meeting or didn't do everything possible to get lma?? They didn't lose lma for lack of effort they lost him because the spurs were always the favorite to land him and have won some chips recently. Blame the front office for not having a better roster to entice him not because you think they didn't try to get a second meeting. Thats just ignorant.

I don't hate Aldridge for choosing to go to SA - he's a free agent and as such free to go wherever he wants to. Hope they suck balls the whole time he is there though (and for all years beyond).

What confuses me is why he would sign for a full 4 years, when he was initially intent on a 1+1 contract. Not only would it have enabled him to cash in next year, but he also would have had an out in case Duncan/ Pop/ Manu all retire and the team is left with nothing. Could have rung chased for a year and then bailed next year.

Anyway, what's done is done, time to move on and fill out the roster with low end vets that won't demand playing time over the youngins. Maybe Anthony Bennett at backup PF, might be worth kicking the tyres to see if he gets it together.

SunsFanSSOL wrote:I'm going to be completely honest, and I'm not saying this out of bitterness for not getting LMA, but I feel like his addition wouldn't have done much for us. He's not better than Amare was in PHX, but everyone is touting him as being on par with Nash and Barkley if he were to come here. Amare averaged 25 and 9 on 59% shooting at his peak, LMA averaged 23 and 11 on 46% shooting the last few years. I'd be much more enthusiastic if we were to get him when he was closer to the age of our core, not 30 years old. I'm aware his game isn't predicated on athleticism, but a team built around a mid 30's LaMarcus Aldridge will never beat the young Warriors, or Thunder. You can also look at his efficiency and see it's been declining for the last 3 years. With him, we'd be on par with the Portland team over the last few years, and I think he recognized that.

I agree, but his shooting % is more a result of the different type of players they are. A big that can hit from long range is going to make his guards far better by opening up the lane. That is why Marion hung out at the 3 pt line..

That is also why I continue to mention Love. He is perfect for us. I don't think we ever get him, but he is probably the most realistic scenario at some point...he is locked in and they are loaded...if Kyrie gets injured or Love/LeBron don't mesh we have a window. People please realize I am talking about a 5% chance, but these are likely the type of thoughts REALGMS go through often..think of all potential possible opportunities, and pounce when you can.

Probably not. Seems like we're going to try to push for the playoffs because we have Chandler. I get the feeling Warren might already be a better player, though.

If we were neck and neck with the Spurs then why didn't we get a second meeting? I mean he meet with the Lakers twice. I have no doubt that someone dropped the ball. When a FA meets with your competing team a second time you better be on the next **** plane with balloons, confetti, a personal babysitter for his kids, a job for his wife/etc in Phoenix and every single request he made because they deemed him valuable to the franchise.

You don't know this. Honestly the decision was probably made before FA started. The fact we probably made him hesitate is impressive.

This front office has made many different claims before the draft and FA. How about an explanation about why the **** we didn't have a second meeting with LMA if were were truly in the mix? I've been a SUNS fan since 93 and I'm getting sick and tired of trying to figure out what is going on with this franchise. They owe long-time fans an explanation about what they are doing and why it didn't work out so we can hold them to not making the same mistakes again.

I like Tucker. But I'd rather him be a Lou Admunson type of backup with a stud Warren starting them having him start and Warren get spot minutes. He is a hustler that lays his heart on the floor. Hard not to like.

Have they re-upped Thompson yet? Honestly, they aren't going to pay both of them $15-20m per to split the PF spot. Not long term anyway. One will start and the other will be traded for a backup at a backup price. Odds are on them keeping the Rich Paul client.

You factor in the other gargantuan deals they've just ponied up (Shumpert etc.) and their situation looks even worse.

I'd start with an offer of Markieff and Green s&t for Love, and go from there.

OK, a second meeting didn't happen because LaMarcus didn't want a second meeting with us...either that or we laid it all out on the table with our pitch and a second meeting would have been no better than "Please?" I mean, c'mon! I think our first meeting was so impressive he didn't need a second meeting and he knew where we were at and that other meetings were crap and he needed clarifications. Why the two meetings? Why a code red?

You are WAY too over the top about this front office though. Yes, we have gone downhill big time as a franchise, but I think we hit the bottom of the hill and are racing back up it, hitting a few rocks on the way.

Coro doesn't have inside info anymore. He never said suns were going after LMA in the beginning.

I posted an article about FA possibilities, Coro said that Aldridge and Love were our first options, by far, but that they would be long-shots.

What is really hard to believe is that LMA left a crap load of money on the table. How in the world do the Spurs get away with this highway robbery over and over?

1. He would have got another year and more money per year from the Blazers.
2. Why not sign a 2 year deal with the Spurs with a player option and sign a 5 year deal next off season with the Spurs ( I think that is legal.)

Bottom line not only did the Spurs get their man, they got him at a bargain price.

However when looking into his stats I now have questions. I think most of his points came from mid range jumpers. That is not the current trend for this league. He certainly would have been an upgrade for us but I doubt it would have meant us hanging a banner in the near future.

I like the deal someone proposed with the Warriors. Lee and Looney somehow someway. It could help us next season and if Looney pans out we could get our PF of the future.

I cannot see how we can keep Keiff around and I would also move Tucker.

I can see a Gerald Green return as well.

Who knows what our roster will look like on November 1st. I am keeping my fingers crossed on Josh Harrelson. He was pretty good when he played in New York with MDA. He has disappeared since then.

Return to Phoenix Suns
