we are in desparate need of a center not named hill sacre or any other pile of garbage. despite his recent disappointment, he still has a chance to redeem himself.

anyone know if we keep bird rights?

moving forward, my pipedream is this: hibbert returns to as close as he can get to his former all star form. at worse, a decent defensive center. our young guys show thr NBA what theyve got. we sign a max guy next year. and resign hibbert. otherwise, we just let him walk. lol.

Most fans were hopping we would land a guy a little higher up on the food chain. Its like going to the dealer and expecting to drive away in Cadillac Escalade instead you drive out of the lot with a Kia Sorento. Sure they are both SUVs but did you get what you really needed or wanted?

Sorry no way Indiana gives you a pick to take the guy. We could have sent him home like we did Jamall Tinsley a few years ago. A buyout would be better than paying someone to take him. Especially when the Lakers haven't signed anyone yet, not like you're killing it with LMA and Monroe signed up. Better hope that you make the top 3 again in the lotto. 8-)

Nothing personal but the people who were expecting a Cadillac Escalade only brought in money for a Kia Sorrento. We had hopes that the dealer would give a discount but we should have never expected for that to happen. To do so would be fooling yourself. We may not have gotten what we wanted but its possible that we went home with what we needed. No bells and whistles, no bling but hopefully we found something that could last.

I think the displeasure with the FO just snowballed because of talk about analytics and no basketball talk. Perception went downhill from there even with fans who werent expecting eiher of them to come. All other teams were signing players left and right while we were still waiting at the altar for the bride to arrive.

Taking a step back, is it so much worse than signing RoLo or even BroLo? For me, Hibbert could bring the same value as either of them. But the good thing about this is that if he doesn't, we are not saddled with a bad contract after this year. And if he does work out, we can sign him for less and we have his bird rights.

I'll take a Kia Sorrento. Compared to the Clippers who got their 4Runner jacked at the parking lot.

Very happy with this move! Trades, drafting, these are Kupchak's strong points. This is a great fall back after missing all of our targeted FA. We don't commit money longterm, we gain a starting center who is on a one year deal, we gave up little to get him, we took a nice chunk of our capspace so we don't give a crap contract to the FA leftovers. Gotta be competitive, and no more tanking. This is a step in the right direction.

Very, very happy with this.

He's in a contract year and all we gave up was a future 2nd rounder and cap space after we bombed out in free agency. Now we have about 5mill left to try to find a defensive wing or a backup PG like Joseph from S.A.

Yeah I know right till this happened today I was seriously frustrated over here. We're still not a playoff team in the West but at least we're watchable right now barring injuries

whether Hibs works or not depends on what style of basketball we are going to play but as pointed out its not like we are married to the guy. If he doesnt work you wave good bye and if he does then they can sign him he still has plenty of basketball left in him.

I have to say, most reclamation projects who drop to LA have improved their value and most of them signed up for more money than what they received in LA. If Hibbert can recover 70% of his all star mode, we would be happy with that. First he needs to drop more weight. He didn't look bloated like we see him today during his all star days.

We better be getting some compensation and a good chunk of that salary taken back.

Sorry to intrude.

I hope Hibbert does well at the Lakers as he was one of my favourite players but you can't use highlights of him against Miami 2-3 years ago as he's completely fallen off a cliff since then.

I expect him to be a 12, 7, and 2 player after watching him struggle so much. But at the same time we might get the above guy because he's in a contract year. Players get a lot more motivated when money is on the line. Also he may be better off not setting himself up for failure here by going through the aches and pains of finally realizing his game's limits while in indiana. And thirdly he may just need a change of scenery (coaching, teammates, a fresh start etc.).
