Re: Mavericks want Lin (S&T)
This will probably turn into some complicated three way with the Pacers that I don't want to bother researching.

Re: Mavericks want Lin (S&T)
I think we would throw Swaggy and Lin to Mavs
Mavs send Monte to Indy and we get Hibbert..
We eventually sign Lou with $$ freed up.

Get that **** done for a couple 2nd round picks. I still can't believe Lakers are taking Hibbert without getting a draft pick from the Pacers.

Re: Mavericks want Lin (S&T)
Doing a deal like that with them only nets us a 2nd rounder from "I'm smarter than you" Cuban's punk ass. If we took a 1st rounder from Houston for him, the Mavs need to do the same if they want him. 1st rounder or no deal.

As much as I like DEEP's hardline stance on getting rid of Lin, literally ANYTHING that gets rid of Lin would be welcome by me.

Lol that makes no sense buddy. Houston was trying to get rid of his contract and Dallas is trying to sign him

Re: Mavericks want Lin (S&T)
^ You do understand that the reason for the S&T is because Dallas cannot sign him normally due to their cap situation?
That's the definition of leverage.

Make him take the mini exemption Dallas, we aren't eating Felton and neither is indy which is the only way it would work ... And lol at the trade Nick crew who can't see then we have no swingman or NBA level 3pt shooter at 2/3, let it go

Could tell Lin **** you or sign the exemption. That what ny and Sacramento offered him, about a little less than 3mil. And they don't want him to run the show, Cuban has already said parsons will run it and that's what was told to Matthews and Jordan too. They want their pg to spot up shoot, defend, and be a secondary ball handler. They are better off with Devin Harris tbh, but chandler is trying to get his buddy paid too from pitty

Re: Mavericks want Lin (S&T)
I thought the context of my thoughts expressed just that. Dallas CAN'T sign him, they want us to help...the point of negotiations is to take what is beneficial to you. Lin is currently not on our roster, an S&T means we technically put him back on our roster so they can get him through a trade. Such a deal means that we can and should ask for a 1st rounder if you're a hard line negotiator.Marionettetc wrote:^ You do understand that the reason for the S&T is because Dallas cannot sign him normally due to their cap situation?

Re: Mavericks want Lin (S&T)
Dude just misread you or something. If a team is asking for a sign and trade, it means that they cannot sign him through normal means. Typically their salary cap. The only thing the last CBA changed was that (to my best knowledge) you now cannot S&T into a team that is above the luxury tax apron.
You're 100% right, dunno what pointgod is on.

Re: Mavericks want Lin (S&T)
bringing up that the rockets gave up a pick to dump Lin has no relevance to the Mavs wanting Lin. Aside from it being the same player, it's two totally different situations. You can't compare them in an attempt to decide what the Mavs should be giving up.Marionettetc wrote:Dude just misread you or something. Re: Mavericks want Lin (S&T)
And you do realize that no team ever is going to get rid of a decent player and GIVE UP it's draft pick or valuable asset right ?Pointgod wrote:Lol that makes no sense buddy. Houston was trying to get rid of his contract and Dallas is trying to sign himcompletely different situations. Don't hold your breath considering that this front office gave up an asset to take on Hibbert's contract while we should have been the ones getting one. No one is trading a first rounder for Lin, we should learn our lesson from Pau Gasol getting anything is better than losing a player for nothing.
Now we're doing exactly the same thing as we did last off season with Houston. Both Indy and Houston's situations are the same, two bloated contracts they didn't want. We just happen to catch one GM who's rock hard for cap space because he was desperate for Bosh, so to act fast he kicked in a 1st rounder....you do realize that's rare in a trade. I LMAO last summer at that. Now Indy wants to get rid of Roy more so for switching a play style, just so happens he has a big contract and we can take. Even if we got a pick it would be nothing more than a 2nd rounder.
