Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
the team was clearly built around reggie and drummond and right now, it looks to be built decently around their skill set. just gotta hope our other players step up imo. kcp needs a big year. money sounds high, and it is, but it should level out with the cap raises.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
People saying this is a lot should probably take a nice long look at the contracts others have signed this offseason. A contract can only be fairly evaluated relative to other deals handed out in the same climate (which is a unique one with the cap going up so much in the next 2 years).
He's making 2 million per year more than Brandon Knight and 2 mill less per year than Goran Dragic.
That is exactly what people should have expected.

Yes. There can only be two 5 year contracts on your team. Your rookie that you drafted and someone else's rookie that they drafted. Reggie is From OKC.
So basically Jackson and Drummond are the Big Two on our team with possibly Stanley being a Big 3 or maybe a trade or FA.

For some reason, people think Knight is a better player. Maybe they forget that we've seen both play for our team and know their strengths and weaknesses.
Every move the Pistons have made this offseason has been frowned upon by this site. I expect nothing less.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
I figured he would get around what knight got. There is no denying he is better than knight, better ball handler, better vision, better passer, getting to the rim, higher iq.Knight has him on shooting and defense, but jackson is no slouch in the defense department tho and showed he can shoot the ball, just needs to become more consistent.
I honestly dont want to trade jennings,I like having that dynamo, and having jennings shooting and passing with the 2nd unit, were he can dominate the ball alot more is probably better for him.Stan will always have the option to put jennings in,in late games with dre because those 2 feet just as good , also jennings has that clutch gene and isnt scared to take the shot.
Will say it again,I love having jackson/jennings as our pgs.

We're done.
Reggie Jackson if you're reading this congratulations on sneaking into $80 million dollars. Boy you played your cards right! You know you ain't worth it, and you know you ain't living up to it, but from one black man to another congratulations on your come up. Truly.
Brandon Jennings if you're reading this text Stan... tell him you want to stay. We're going to need you. Bless your Achilles. Don't hate on Reggie's bread bro. We both know you're better but now's not the time to be bitter. Ball out Brandon. Get well.

Keep in mind DeMarre Carroll who is more or less a top tier role player is getting paid 15 mil per.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
1. This seems like a market value contract, and like every other contract, will look better every year that the salary cap makes its big jumps.
2. Considering that we didn't even get meetings with some of the quality free agents this year, it is good to lock up a quality player that fits our team when we get a chance.
3. It could still possibly backfire, but I think this is a risk worth taking. RJ could become a top 10 PG in the league. Locking him up for 5 years could be one of the best moves we've done in a long time.

Reggie the same thing! Carroll is definitely worse though I think that's the worst contract in the league at the moment omg

Reggie got a lot of haters in non-Piston fans to prove wrong next year, and he will for the next 5.

It helps that he wants to be here.
He strikes me as that guy who's so happy to be out of his parents for the first time in his life.

Good point. And he certainly wants to prove that he can run a team. He now gets a good coach that will be here for awhile, some talented young players, and a big fat contract. He can't ask for a better situation.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
I believe in Reggie, I hope he goes out and earn that contract.
We're only gonna go as far as Reggie and Drummond take us next year, we need all-star production from those 2 because everyone else is role players.
