Are The Raptors Playing Small Ball Next Year?
The team persued Mathews hoping to start both him and Carrol at the 3/4, drafted an NBA ready PG, and signed cojo to a generous contract for a backup PG.
It looks like DC will be going to his two PG lineup a lot this season and the team will not be looking to acquire a traditional 4 but rather one that will be able to stretch the defense out- Patterson and Carrol.

Safe to say DC is licking his chomps right now...
If there's one thing he loves more than traditional small ball, it's 2-PG small ball

We played small ball last year and it was terrible.

As the team stands, I sure hope so. James Johnson and DC need to see some time together to fully utilize our talent. Especially with Biyimbo playing significant minutes at C. We have three PGs who *could* be playing great defence next season and limited (traditional) options at PF.

If we sign Gerald green, yes.
Lowry
Demar
Green
Carroll
Val/biyombo
Three snipers and one penetrator, with biyombo to clean up the messes could work very well similar to a less talented golden state.

Yeah we playing small -- at least we have defensive minded players this time around.
we still need better rebounding from a mobile big tho...

Re: Are The Raptors Playing Small Ball Next Year?
Yeah, I think we may be headed in that direction...
Lowry/Wright
DeRozan/Joseph/Powell
Ross/JJ/Daniels
Carroll /Patterson/Bruno???
Val/Biyombo/Bebe
And if it's JJ
Lowry/Wright
DeRozan/Joseph
Carroll/Ross
JJ/Patterson
Val/Biyombo
Obviously there's more positional versatility there than a simple depth chart shows but I think this is the general direction that Masai is leaning in. The defense is a lot more improved and I do like the spacing/defensive potential of that starting lineup. It's all dependent on if Ross can finally take his game to another level and if Carroll can manage at the 4 without getting overwhelmed.

GSW winning this year was the worst thing that could have happened to us.
Casey now believes small ball is the only way to win, but he likely conveniently forgot that David Lee stepping back in to play PF was a main reason why GSW got back into it.

Wright
Joseph
Carrol
Johnson
Biyombo
Neither team would score any points.

Re: Are The Raptors Playing Small Ball Next Year?
I think small ball is inevitable but the players Ujiri has brought in are nasty physical defenders so I expect the Raptors will play like the small ball version of the Memphis Grizzlies. Kind of exciting to me.

How many minutes before the "small" line-up is on the floor together?

How many minutes before the "small" line-up is on the floor together?
The line-up is painfully obvious, and the outcome will be equally as painful:
PG- Kyle Lowry
SG- Terrance Ross
SF- DeMar DeRozan
PF- DeMarre Carroll
C- Patrick Patterson
Those who choose correctly will receive an And1 on every post I see of theirs until the end of time. Those who choose the next closest option will receive an And1 for every minute one of the best young bigs in the NBA is rotting on the bench and wasting his career for an over-his-head head coach.
Best of luck!

This thread is in appreciation of Tom Sterner, the only coach this franchise has had in the last four years who's had a clue, but was made a scapegoat by a spineless organization.

The only thing smaller than this line up is the size of Casey's brain if he actually decides to use this lineup...... Knowing Casey, we are near 100% sure he will.

While still clearly missing something, I'd like to think Biyombo, James Johnson, DeMarre, DD, and Lowry wouldn't get absolutely destroyed on the glass. Most of those guys are pretty solid rebounders for their position... with us obviously having a clear disadvantage with James Johnson, Ross, or Wright as the 5th guy.

Carroll will move to the 5 after we sign Nate Robinson.

Uh oh. Hmm, Casey doesn't really like Ross that much though, and he loves 2 PGs. He'll probably try to close games with:
PG - Lowry
SG - Joseph
SF - DeRozan
PF - Carroll
C - Patterson
Well, that's terrifying.
