Well ****, hopefully we can orchestrate a S&T in order to get something out of this.

Would Cleveland have to do that? It seems like they have zero room unless this is dirt cheap.

So we couldn't find a sign-and-trade…

I'm still hoping for a trade for a PG so we can use the MLE on Gerald Green.

Goodbye Mo.

You're old and got tired.

Not as old as me, but I'm not a pro basketball player. I might be able to beat PJ one-on-one though in the YMCA.

Assume that's the taxpayer MLE.

They don't have to with these numbers...

They've got the taxpayer's MLE worth about $3.4m, so they don't really need our help on this one. Mo could've made more than that in one year with us or via S&T.

All this cheapness will make more sense when MJ pursues Durant.

yeah, I don't even know who in the hell we would want for it to work.

Does using the MLE affect what you pay in luxury tax? It's given to teams who are in the tax, so do they have to pay the tax on it? or is it just considered being under the cap, if that makes sense?

The exception is given to allow for a signing above the minimum. They'd still pay the tax on it.

All over the cap teams have some form of MLE, with tax teams having a smaller amount to distribute. It's different in the sense that it's an exception, but all player salaries - irregardless of exceptions used - still count toward a team's tax bill.

Damn, hate to see Mo go, considering the point guard crop is shrinking daily and this team seems to be content with the team we have. Morons.

Also the Cavs are over the tax apron so they are not allowed to acquire any players thru sign and trade. Since Mo is set on going back to the Cavs he has no other option than to sign with them for an amount at or under the MMLE since they hadn't used that exception yet.

Correct. There was talk we would try and S&T him somewhere, but we knew that it couldn't happen with Cleveland.

So if Mo wanted to go to Cleveland (which he clearly did), there was no way we could squeeze assets out of that transition. Silly to blame the FO for that.

I was telling people months ago that Mo just wasn't staying. He'd either demand to much money from us or go ring chasing.

I honestly didn't expect Mo to stay either. Writing was on the wall a long time ago.

It is disappointing that no S&T options were there, but that is what it is.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody
