stick with the pick and let Love come next year.

Absolutely. It might be a gamble to wait until free agency if Minnesota were indeed willing to trade him for our pick but it's a worthy one. We need more than just Kevin Love for this team to be a contender.

Bump

KYRIE POINTS OUT

The Cavs are making noises that they aren’t going to offer Kyrie Irving “max money’’ this summer via a long-term extension. They don’t want to deal the 2014 All-Star Game MVP, but it could come to that, especially if the West Orange product and his family continue to tell people that he wants out. Irving hasn’t been a leader in his first three seasons and he’s also gained the unwelcomed reputation as a locker-room problem. Those are two reasons the Cavs don’t see him as a max player.

“He was just handed too much, too soon,’’ said one source. “You’ve got to make these young guys earn it, and that’s where this team did a bad job with him.’’

The Cavs know they can’t get Love in a deal for the No. 1 overall pick they secured with their third lottery win in the last four seasons. If they keep the pick, they’re expected to take Kansas big man Joel Embiid, unless the stress fracture in his back injury from last season has the chance to become a long-term issue. . . . Embiid’s agent, Arn Tellem, might not make his client’s medical records, including reports on the back, available to certain teams where he doesn’t want Embiid to play.

In this article there is a little interesting nugget in there about Kyrie...Also interesting how Arn Tellem is trying his hardest to get his client Embiid to drop in the draft to a preferred destination.....Thoughts?

if the opportunity came up for irving though, i'd think about it. Irving is under team control til at least 2016 and imo there's no way he'll even be available then. Irving isn't going to take a pay cut to play for the QO for a yr full of risk for his injury prone self, then take another pay cut to sign on a team other than the cavs.

If the lakers trade for him though, he's on the books for a miniscule 7 mil this summer, meaning it gives the lakers one heck of a chance to go after someone like melo and create a trio of melo/kobe/irving, with kobe coming off the books two yrs later giving the lakers a chance to reload again around irving/melo.

as long as melo is making pau money and not kobe money, i can see it being an option the lakers would consider.

 Lot's of guys from lots of teams said that, "can just sign him outright in 2015."

How'd that work out for ya?

Plenty of Wolves fans said you have to trade for him or you won't get him.

Y'all just didn't wanna listen. :D

Still agree with what I said back then. If you can get him for nothing as a free agent, great. If you have to trade a great asset for him then there would've been too much risk and really not that great of a reward

leeprettyp wrote:If the Cavs or Wolves finally caved in to realizing that both players arent staying long term and gave Mitch and Jim a call requesting a deal center around our lottery pick this year. Of course in Love's case other pieces would need to be added to make the numbers work. Or there's also the option of just waiting it out for him 2015 free agency. In Irving case remember he's still on his rookie contract (extra bonus there). But then again the idea of losing Wiggins, Embiid or Parker maybe too much. What should our F.O. response be?

I know its over a year old, but this is just too funny.

Need to see if Russell, the wonder muscle, will fair in this coming to see if it was all worth it.

FYI, my vote way back was "Hell no."

No way. Russel looks like a real winner. Irving is injury prone and Kevin love is overrated.
