Since NBA max/minimum/midlevel deals are set as a percentage of the overall cap, you can't sign a contract if you don't know exactly what the pay is. The fact that they get all of that stuff completed and signed off in a week is fairly miraculous as it is.

I agree with the people who feel he should be able to back out of this. With the way the NBA works, his deal has a direct domino effect on other players and franchises. What if he backs out and the Mavs offer Robin Lopez a deal, which he accepts? Then the Knicks lose their projected starting center. So on and so forth.

So then don't let free agency start until that number is finalized. Easy solution.

I agree. I'd be interested to know what the reasoning is behind having the negotiating period during the moratorium.

Unfortunately, tomorrow is the day verbal contracts are put on paper. So this hilarity won't last more than 24 hours.

Kind of a bad analogy though. I mean wouldn't you just throw your ex one last one, then explain that it's really over, and get married anyway? Or is that bad?

It's kind of like that bad Sandra Bullock movie 'Forces of Nature', but instead of hanging out with Sandra Bullock you are with Chandler Parsons, which makes you have second doubts about getting married.

Cuban should ask are you ready to be the man or are you happy being Blake / Paul's clean up man.

I hadn't read that. If Jordan actually did "let it be known" that he was having second thoughts, then I would do exactly what the Clips did, plus send Clipper Darryl as well.

Wow just heard about this.

Wtf man. Verbally agreeing to a contract and now backing out from it is just ethically wrong. Its one of those unwritten rules in baseball that everyone knows and has to respect.

Has this happened before in the NBA?

Mark Cuban has the DeAndre Jordan premises guarded by security.

I personally no longer care if he come back. The love affair is over. Things can never be the same.

I would think Cuban is regretting his decision to avoid a S&T for a TPE . Maybe he should be on the phone right now.

If DJ comes back, he will probably be shipped off next year - only this time we will get some value in return.

Now the Clippers are that cute movie star kid who grew up to look like a goof.

When did that even happen? on Blake's rookie season everybody was hatin already because of the dunk contest. Right now can't blame ya doe

It happened when CP went there and they actually started winning.

Gotta say, it's nice to have something fresh to discuss since FA is basically over.

Jordan should have chosen the Clips from the start. More money and a chance to win a ring. Figure the personal stuff out after.

This is why Cuban shouldn't have been discussing their signings before it was official.
