DeAndre Jordan could single-handedly eliminate the Mavs from the playoffs

I can't even fathom the potential lawsuits that could result from Jordan reneging. So many moves made as a result of Jordan agreeing to this.

Unless there is a written contract negating oral agreements - that's the CBA. You've got to get the contract in writing.

Are you saying the CBA declares that verbal agreements are not binding? I'm not sure that would hold up and I think there could be a case made for reneging on a contract. The law is always tricky, but if anyone would pursue this, it's Cuban. It would be a mess, which I'd assume Silver wouldn't want.

How much was the Clippers' offer, anyway? They could give DJ a bit more, right?

There needs to be a free agent free for all right now. All verbal commitments off!

If Jordan ends up staying with the Mavs after putting the clips through this... wow

But let's chill a little here, Stein's not reporting that DeAndre is overthinking his decision, he's solely reporting about the Clippers' FO playing overly attached EX-GF & nothing more.

In the article it says that
Jordan has told people close to him since picking Dallas that he's still "torn" and "unsure" about his choice.

You didn't mention who gave the information.

Yes. The CBA doesn't permit oral commitments. All contracts must be in writing. In some cases, parties can even be punished for coming to oral agreements if the intent is to get around the CBA. That's why Boozer got away with lying to the Cavs former owner - who was actually a blind man.

Sort of like Royal Rumble between all the GMs and owners. Last man in the ring gets his pick of all the free agents, previous commitments mean nothing.

Matthews would still get paid, but a lot of money has been tied up already, so maybe not as much...

What offer? if none of these "agreements" are binding until a written contract is signed, there was no offer. Teams could make agreements with players just to mess up other teams, then pull out on July 9th at midnight. The NBA has to fix this or they could have anarchy.

Looks like this franchise is satisfied with second-round exits and watching the Warriors win championships from their couch the next five years. This is really pathetic. I don't care that DJ started this by having second thoughts - the groveling is still pathetic for a player who is still NOT worth that kind of money or attention. Period.
