Matthews would still get paid, but a lot of money has been tied up already, so maybe not as much...

MAvs will absolutely not back out of our commitment to Matthews. WE are a first class organization.

I suppose Matthews might want out but considering he can't get that money anywhere else now I can't see it.

But that's the point. There is a ton of money elsewhere. Any organization can pull out of any deal. I know most organizations won't, but that's the chaos the NBA is opening itself to if they don't fix this.

Or the biggest "wow" of all, that a grown-ass man and seven-year NBA veteran can be this much of a weak-minded sissy.

What the Clips aren't thinking about: building a bench. They resign DeAndre, who's else can they sign to fill out their bench?

Jordan should have never made deal with Cuban. He has the power to overrule Fegan anyways (if a deal went down behind his back)

If you want to stay then stay don't waste everyone's else time when they could have done some other stuff.

Do you want to set all your hopes on Durant coming here next year? If DJ comes back we are right in the thick of contenders again, while he may not be worth that kind've money what other free agents could we possibly get in the next couple of years with that money? Unless you just want to blow it all up this year

They have chucker Crawford, Stephenson. I think it would be a decent move to start Wesley Johnson in the Matt Barnes role and bring Crawford & Stephenson off the bench. Consider trading Crawford for some sort of PG.

Maybe he doesn't like the whole idea of being a "franchise player" and having those expectations. If he stays on the clippers, he can still be paid like a franchise player, while playing the role that by far suits him the best, rather than forcing up a lot of shots (that he specifically shouldn't be taking) because that's what "franchise players do."

Ethically, it's obviously a bit of a precarious move to back out on an established agreement, but this is a decision that dramatically affects his life so it's more important than the ramifications of going back on your word.

Well they got Lance/Pierce/Wes Johnson 2 of which will be coming off the bench, then trading Crawful for a backup big would pretty much make our bench competitive in the west.

nothing changes except they gain the full MLE vs the taxpayer MLE but most of that is already promised to Truth. They need Jordan. Which is why they should have taken it more seriously in the 1st place.

Honestly, if he was having doubts - the better move would have been to sign a LBJ type deal where he'd have a PO next year. That way he could have opted out and gone back to the Clippers when the cap went up.
