DJ is having doubts about his decision to go to Dallas and is meeting with the Clippers today to give them another chance. He's the one who initiated this process and now reports are that he will give Dallas one more meeting as well. Right now many credible reporters like Stein and Shelburne are reporting that he's likely to stay with LAC now.

Can someone explain to he how DJ broke a "verbal" contract with Dallas when there was a moratorium on all deals? If it can't be signed, how can a verbal deal have any legal merit? It seems DJ made a promise but in no way was that a legal contract. In some ways, the moratorium may be there to prevent players being bullied by their agents and friends (some of them are pretty young).

A "verbal deal" legally in NBA contract standards don't mean anything...simply because no deals can be made, verbal or otherwise, until the moratorium is lifted. Teams can only discuss terms. That's it.

Chandler spent a week with him, Cuban publicly called him Shaq and a franchise player. Dirk flew in to have dinner with DJ. A 90 minute presentation by Rick seems like a small part of the process to me.

He made them a promise. A very public promise that he was going to sign with them. A promise is a verbal contract of sorts.

Of course they will, do you think they wont use this to lowball him in 5 years? Of course they will, they are businessmen and will use anything they can to save some $$ add that in 5 years DeAndre won't be as young as he is now which won't help him.

If you don't think Steve Ballmer will open up his wallet again to DJ in 5 years you're on drugs. Teams make decisions based on what will help them, if a GM wants to keep their job and improve their team holding some petty grudge is unprofessional.

Balmer will. Other teams won't, they can't trust to offer DJ and then get embarrased either. If DJ does return to LAC look at all the damage it has caused Dallas. They could've had other options. A team owner wouldn't want to risk DJ doing this entire thing again when his contract is up. So he better hope Balmer loves him in 5 years or he won't be getting big offers with the risk of this happening again.

That is a fan perspective. I didn't see anyone run when Boozer became a free agent after what he did to Cleveland. If in 5 years if DJ is the best center in basketball. Which I doubt. However if he is teams are going to be lining up to sign him. 5 years is a long time.

I don't know remember the name of the coach in the NFL but he said it best. In summary when you need talent you find a way to justify anything. Reality they will justify why he did it and that he is unlikely to do it again since he did it once.

IMO this is a panic move by the Clippers. They know if Deandre leaves that doesn't speak well for the chances of keeping Blake. You could afford to lose maybe 1 elite free agent without compensation. If they do lose Deandre they can't allow Chris and Blake to become free agents.

You know what it was? It was probably the damn FTs. He agrees to come to the Mavs and what's the first thing that pops up? Him supposedly hitting 1000 FTs in a day. I doubt DJ has hit 1000 FT in his career. He probably said screw this.

Funny how most Clippers fans here now think that DJ is great and is a "Franchise player" when you were all singing a different turn just a few hours ago.

Most Clipper fans see DJ for what he is. The thing is that the Clippers have had DJ so long, we have actually designed our entire offense and defense around covering up his deficiencies and maximizing whatever we can get from him offensively. Dallas may be hurt from this betrayal, but the Clippers had much more to lose. DJ is a manufactured talent that we have developed from a piece of coal. He may not be a diamond, but beaten down Clipper fans deserve to see the DJ experiment seen through till the end.

If you're Fegan, you have to decide whether you can continue to represent DeAndre if he intends on signing with the Clippers. The Clippers went around you after your client made his decision, your client back out in the 11th hour after the FA market dried up, and those are two norms that were violated.

If you're Fegan, you're probably pissed as hell...and then you look at the $3,000,000 you stand to make from DJ's deal, regardless who he signs with, and suddenly all is forgiven.
