I really wish fans on here were better able to tune out the Lin fans (who were easy to spot and ignore) and give Lin a fair shake. He was a very solid pg that had an underrated second half of the season. With the lakers having been given a pick just to take him, the team could not have expected better play than what he gave. E never got a fair shake from Scott IMO, but probably best for both parties that he moved on, definitely best for him.

Lin thinks his a superstar due to his stint with Knicks and yet his not even an allstar - dude complains about taking the big shots then gets his chance and airballs. Dude thinks his worth the big bucks and shouldn't be worth more then the vet even less - dude go lucky with his time with knicks, if didn't have that one and only moment he would still be a nobody and people wouldn't know who he was - but it is what it is.

Good luck to him is all I say

Complain? What are you talking about? Jeremy Lin took the high road all year while Scott threw him under the bus on the reg.

Funny enough, B-Scott's quote about Lin, from espn's article reporting the peanuts deal to Charlotte:

"The one thing about him: The kid takes criticism," Scott said. "You can jump on him about things, and he takes it with a grain of salt and he tries to get better. That's the one thing I do love about him. He doesn't pout about it. He doesn't cry. He just goes out there and tries to implement the things that you give him and become a better basketball player."

The Lakers' style of play was the complete opposite of Jeremy Lin's style of play, B-Scott toyed with his minutes and starting position despite zero depth, both Scott and Kobe bullied him, but dude played hard and played the right way. He puts his team first, he's an unselfish player, he listens to his coach even when that coach is Byron Scott, the three-pointers-dont-win, i-dont-believe-in-analytics, my-players-want-to-shoot-me-in-the-back, i-dont-want-to-be-in-a-foxhole-with-my-players maestro who has 2nd worst winning percentage all time of coaches with 1000 games.

Jeremy? He's a class act, regardless of what his fans or his haters say.

It would have been cool trying to build a team that played unselfish team ball for once, I mean, it looks fun and it's winning championships, but who needs that when we can create a tough guy culture and me-first hero ball and keep losing.

He could get his game back, or better, after two terrible seasons of learning.

Obviously he wasn't coming back, but I'm a bit surprised these guys that obviously didn't get played for tanking purposes (which I mean, come on, that was obviously the case) are taking such big salary hits from it too. Not that I expected Lin to come even close to what he was making.

Smaller market will be better for him, if he's going to have any chance to resurrect his career.

Anyhow I'm not sad to see him go, but dude's a class act, and better than he gets credit for... usually.

Guy would have been at least a solid, young backup at two positions, and come cheap.

Justin Bieber goes to Laker games, who cares? Drake is a huge Lou Williams fan, who cares?

How old are you guys?

How would Lin help our team exactly?

There's a reason he's being bounced around from team to team and it has nothing to do with fans.

I like him, too. Great underdog story. He wasn't supposed to be a legitimate NBA player, but he became one. I wish him all the best in Charlotte.

For $2 mil a season he is a steal. For his sake I hope the second year is a player option. I can see him start in the backcourt with Kemba if Clifford doesn't try to force Batum and Kidd-Gilcrhist into one line up but if you thought his game was a bad fit in LA, you have another thing coming with Clifford and Charlotte. They play an even slower pace than Scott and unless they banish Big Al, that won't change.

He's a solid point guard but I felt was in Byron Scott's dog house. He needs a coach that believes in him and play by his strengths. I was hoping he head to the Knicks to revive his Linsanity there. Now he'll just be forgotten.

Good riddance. Never seen such a player get overrated over a 2 week hot streak.

Sacre, Lin, Johnson, Boozer and Young all need to be gone.

I think he's gone from overrated to underrated. He's gotten a bit of a raw deal over the years. This article is particularly illuminating:

http://www.jlinportal.com/why-jeremy-lin-will-be-a-good-nba-player-whichever-team-he-lands/

It's almost comical the way that played out. Every time he puts in the effort to improve an aspect, he then find out that improvement is now going to be sidelined by a change in circumstances. But he now has a much broader skillset due to all those improvements and different circumstances.

And for $2M per year, that may be one of the better bang for the buck signings this off-season. Clearly massively underrated, not overrated at that price.

It's simple, Lin has proven he could play both guard spots, he tries hard on defense, improves aspects of his game every year, is only 26, has no major history of injury, is coachable, can hit threes, make plays, goes hard to the basket, gets to the line, etc.

He's not a perfect player, he has weaknesses like everybody else, but if you objectively look at the stats and the overall game, the point guards that are unquestionable better than him are making maximum-type money and are all-stars guards. By almost every metric, he's either a middle third or bottom third starting point guard, but he is a starting point guard. It depends on what you value and how you build your team that would affect where you would place him exactly. But he's valuable, why wouldn't you fight to keep him on your team?

A guy like Matthew Dellavedova isn't one of the best point guards in the league. He's got a few serious limitations. But he's also a good all-around point guard who plays hard and the right way, and even if he's the team's 6th or 7th man, he's proven he can be the difference-maker in a playoff series. Guys like that help win championships. Guys like that you hold on to, if the money is right (on the flip side, you don't overpay for players who don't play the right way).

And that's not even looking at his basketball situation. Playing next to Carmelo, Harden, and Kobe, especially under coach Byron Scott...it's hard NOT to look at Jeremy Lin as a depressed stock. The stupidity comes in when his fans and his haters are focused either on Insanity or the balloon poison pill payment, and not looking at what he's worth now, and his potential payoff. He's a versatile starting caliber point guard who's willing to come off the bench, who's willing to take a paycut. And we let that guy walk.

That's why the Lakers should have found a role for him, because Kobe is not going to be around much longer, and if I could put money on it, neither will Byron Scott.

A D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Jeremy Lin three-guard rotation could compete among the league's best, all at a moderate cost, which could both attract and financially allow proven superstars like Kevin Durant see the Lakers as a viable destination to win championships.

The era of acrimony on this board over Jeremy Lin now concludes.
