Marc Gasol then, was nothing more than Guillermo Hernangomez now. Is there a chance he becomes a really good player someday? Sure, but it's a huge question mark. Grizzlies just lucked out with Marc.

Marc Gasol was NT regular since 2006, Hernangomez is not.

Thank you. That would be like somebody this season getting Demarcus Cousins for an expiring and their late picks from this past draft. Literally

Pau Gasol 20-10, DMC 24-13.

Pau's contract bigger and longer than DMC's in a cap that lower than right now. (if you go by % compared to salary cap)

Ok but Gasol in 07 was still an All-star, top 5ish big in the league that was in his prime on a losing team that had been on the trade block. Cousins situation is very comperable to Gasol in 07

My goodness, Cousins is not on the trade block, nor has he been. Otherwise, carry on.

I'm surprised by all the hard feelings out there. "No deals reached over this period are final" is a pretty easy concept to understand. Maybe people just don't know that there is a moratorium?

It was a low move on DeAndre's part, but yeesh, it can't be that upsetting. IMO that he considered Dallas at all means he's not playing with a full deck, so more irrational action is to be expected.

Either way, my point is that if Cousins were to get traded for an expiring and late draft picks from 2 weeks ago, that would be insane. And that is EXACTLY what a 27 year old prime Gasol was traded for

Well, competition for center and power forward positions is much better in their national team now. Marc Gasol was going against Pau and Reyes, and this guy is going against Pau, Marc, Serge Ibaka, Nikola Mirotić, Reyes.

Marc was also Paus little bro, who had a god like status back then in Spain, so he had that going for him.

I'm not glorifying this Hernangomez guy, I'm just saying that Marc back then was nothing more than a late second round draft pick. No one taught he would become what he is today.

Your point is well taken.

BTW Why do you think Gasol was traded for such a weak package?

Have no idea. Maybe an insider deal via jerry West? There's no way that 28 other teams couldn't put out a better offer

Okay I'm going to post this same thing on the various threads out there, yes I'm pissed as a Mavs fan, but I'd like to offer some perspective. I think the people on here who are comparing this to everyday life/job changes where people change their mind, are just plain wrong and out of touch. I myself changed jobs a little over 2 months ago. So I can understand DJ's cold feet, at my old job I had many many close friends and I was in a comfort zone, so yes it was hard to leave. My first two months have gone okay, but I haven't made any real friends yet and I do wonder did I make the right decision? But here's the astronomical differences......

When companies such as the ones you and I work for make verbal offers to people, they don't reject the other candidates they were interested in until it's a done deal. Those candidates are still in play, they have security blankets if the need arises, in the sports world when you have a verbal commitment, you live by that world, that's part of the business, part of making millions while most just make thousands. So no, I don't agree to those few that don't think DJ didn't do anything wrong, he absolutely did. This is not the non-profit, government, corporate world, this is sports, there are different rules.

Everyone knows the kind of organization the Clippers are (and the Rockets for that matter as well seeing their tweet with the gun and Maverick image), they are by far and away the 2 most classless organizations in the NBA. Again yes I'm a bitter Mavs fan who feels bad his team got a raw deal, doesn't take away that DJ and the Clipps were wrong in their actions. If true that the Clipps stayed at his house and refused to let him talk to the Mavs, then they deserve the misfortunes that have plagued their franchise. As a Mavs fan I never could root for the Spurs, but a yet another Spurs title means the Clippers and Rockets don't get it, then so be it.

If Dallas tanks just foul him with all 15 players. If his backup was injured it would be a hilarious 5 hour game. Just make him suffer in a hostile arena with free throws.Put Cuban into the D league and call him up just so he could foul him.

What a clown show!

Not surprising to see DeAndre pull a stunt like this. He doesn't seem very bright on the court. I guess that he is not that bright off the court, either.

I don't have a huge problem with him changing his mind. This, however, is some cowardly stuff. You stand in front of the owner who wanted you and your supposed friend (Parsons) and tell them. That's the least he could have done.
