Re: Around the League
I've hated the Clippers for awhile but now I hate them even more. Jordan is an absolute coward and a liar. I have no respect for someone who just flat out lies like that. The good thing is the Clippers are not ever winning a championship with that roster. GSW and SAS are significantly better so it will be enjoyable watching this team crash and burn for yet another season

As I said, the Mavs presumed plan B's and C's already signed with other teams following the Jordan domino.
Some people will disagree, but I think this nonsense necessitates a change in policy for how these things are supposed to work. This sets up a very nasty precedent where verbal agreements no longer mean anything if nothing is changed now.
I totally agree. This is messed up. It's legal, but completely unethical. How pissed would you be if you were a Mavs fan?

Turkoglu changed his mind a few years back, but he didn't have half the team, coach/GM, and owner or whomever the hell is there barricading his house to make sure that the other teams owner and such won't come in. Its just childish, and pathetic.

Nah. I think it was Milwaukee that Hedo verbally agreed with. Im too lazy to google it. 95% sure it was Milwaukee though.
Boozer screwed the Cavs over 10 years back or so, but the Jazz upped the money up by a good bit as well, but he didn't give Cleveland a chance to match. This ordeal where the NBA waits days upon days for players to sign contracts is stupid as hell. Agree to it, sign it, and go on.

I think it was Portland he had verbally agreed with.
This was 2 teams competing for the services of the same guy who wasn't their player. Hedo changed his mind at the last minute, but the Raptors team and front office wasn't making overtures to him after the verbal agreement.
Completely different situation. The Clippers are totally in the wrong here. Jordan is totally in the wrong here.

Agreed. Could have sworn that someone screwed Milwaukee over though, but yeah you're right it was Portland.

Definitely shady and unethical. I'm surprised Cuban hasn't gone postal yet.
But like other said, won't really change much out west. Even with the addition of Wes and bringing back Jordan they are a 2nd tier team behind GS, SAS and possibly a healthy OKC team, which people tend to forget were the favs out West last year prior to all the injuries.

The current owners are about to screw over the city of Milwaukee by getting them to pay for an arena.

I've always said that billionaires do not need help in building an arena. Its ridiculous. We lost our original Hornets due to an arena mess due to George Shinn, so I despise, and hate when owners due BS like that. The Bucks have a really good fan base, and as much as I'd like to see a team in Seattle again, screw that.

Deandre completely screwed over the Mavs. I hate that that happened today. It's exactly like making a treaty and stabbing someone behind their back. The Clippers just gained my respect in the Playoffs and now I'm completely rooting against them next season. It's so embarrassing.

I was inspired by the saga to cook these up...
Spoiler:
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Re: Around the League
Totally unethical. Not only is Jordan dirt, but so is his agent.
I actually feel bad for Cuban, but more so for Dirk. He took less money on a contract so they would be in position to do a Jordan deal. Looks like his career is ending and he won't get a legit shot at a title.
So the Mavs are really f--ked. But this could lead to a lot of craziness. Would you blame them if they decided to tank and dropped the "agreements" they have with other free agents? Or should they go hard at other players who already have agreements elsewhere? Very bad precedent by Jordan.
Someone mentioned a Parsons trade. I think we'd have to give up a first rounder, but that would be interesting.

Re: Around the League
DeAndre Jordan might be near seven foot and 250lbs+ of muscle but he's a small man and a coward. He has second thoughts over the weekend and calls Blake but doesn't call Cuban about it? And then the day before he makes it known only after all the LAC players, owner and HC go to his house and barricade themselves in with him and play video games with him all day until 12 midnight where they sign the contract. He is the epitome of "bitchmade".
And let's not let NBA Players Association President Chris Paul off the hook here either. He just convinced a player to lie and screw over another team. Think about that for a minute.
And then there is the holier than though, great man and motivator Doc Rivers - in cahoots with the whole thing. Such a stand up "man" that he giggled along with the whole situation as Cuban tried to call Jordan all day and DeAndre didn't pick up the phone. Doc Rivers is just a lowly scum as DeAndre in all of this. His reputation is shot - and deservedly so. All that talk about him being a great leader is dog crap. He won because of his players and lockerroom leaders - he's a terrible coach and proven with this to be an equally bad human being.
Cuban needs to completely tank now because his first rounder goes to Boston if it's 8th or higher. So he can't keep Dirk, Parsons and the like because he could finish 8-14th and lose their first rounder - he needs to tank like Philly. Dallas should trade Dirk to OkC - he'd be a HELLUVA fit there playing 20 minutes a game - and make another WC team better than LAC. Then he probably trades Parsons as well - I'd call up NYK and see if they'd trade Porzingis for Parsons.

Heat just got Gerald Green for the vet min around 970K. Twitter is saying how great this is and "Riley does it again!" BS. If we made the same move these "experts" would crush SVG again that he doesn't know what he's doing.
I'm sick of it.

Parsons is a bit overpaid now, but I wouldn't mind having him on here as our SF and even stretch 4.

Gerald Green for 1M is a better deal than Mook Morris for $20M over the next four. But does this mean Justise only gets minutes backing up Wade at the 2-guard? Because Deng and Green will get the SF minutes one has to figure.

Re: Around the League
Stein says it won't be happening - but Enes Kanter would have been an interesting target for Dallas post screwjob. Could they make a big enough offer that OKC wouldn't/couldn't match? Even with cap going up, OKC isn't a big market to be able to go into the tax and Durant and Westbrook will be looking to get paid under the new max as well in very short order.
