Well for starters Hill is 7'0 with a longer wingspan (Lavoy is 6'9). He is also probably better defensively. He definitely is more versatile. He played some small forward in NY. They are similar in terms being energy guys. But whats wrong with having more than one high energy guy?

Jordan Hill measured out at 6'10" in shoes. 6'9" without shoes. Wingspan of 7'1.5". Not particularly great for his size. Also, his teams are statistically better when he's off the court than on. Lavoy Allen is listed at 6'9" (no idea on exactly how accurate that is, can't find an official measurement). His teams are statistically better when he's ON the court, and he's a better defender than Jordan Hill. Plus, he's a year and a half younger than Jordan Hill.

Honestly, if you ignored draft positions, I'm not sure that Jordan Hill would be viewed as better than Lavoy Allen.

You can say they are redundant and that Jordan Hill doesn't bring anything additional to what Lavoy gives us (and that may be true) but they biggest thing for me is that we can play them together at the 4 and 5 and not lose any of our uptempo mindset. If we feel Ian isn't an asset offensively and we want to wear a team out, play these two together some and spare PG some minutes at the 4.
