Pacers Sign Jordan Hill

Hill has a little range, maybe to 20 feet, so I don't mind the signing.

Can't wait for the "George Hill, to George, finds Hill, to Hill for the bucket" commentary.

Anybody else think he can be our starting PF and play in the 20-25 minute a night range or more when the matchup dictates it?

You really don't want him to. Last year, he took the highest percentage of his attempts between 16' and the 3pt line. Also, he shot his lowest year, by far, TS% and eFG%, as well as his lowest full-season O-Rtg per 100 possessions, and again, by far. He's a rebounder. You essentially want him to play like Jeff Foster.

Pacers Sign Jordan Hill

Hey guys laker fan here. Jordan is a good locker room guy. His jumper is consistent from 12-18 ft. He grabs a lot of rebounds he's a lil injury prone but he doesn't stay out too long. He's fast enough to defend the pick and roll. If you plan on playing small ball he's a good center for that.

Sad to say that I watched a lot of Lakers games last season. I usually tune in to the younger rebuilding squads. Hill's shooting %'s weren't great, but that was by far and large a function of Byron Scott's play-calling. Scott would actually call plays where Jordan Hill would post-up at 18 feet on the baseline and take a fade-away jumper. When Hill had good looks, particularly in transition, he shot well.

I thin the fit could be good, the more I think about it I see Hill as a 5.

I have mixed feelings about this, but my opinion won't be set until the contract amount comes out.

I hoped for this move. Its the best option available. This was a good move. After watching him the last couple years I know he will be a good fit. Now send Mahinmi and Solo for Jeff Green and we got a real annoying lineup to match up with.

"Should George predominantly play the 4, Hill's a sneaky candidate to thrive in the middle. According to 82games.com, Hill posted a player efficiency rating of 20.1 at the 5 last season—5.5 points better than his PER at power forward."

Could be good. Really depends on $, years and contract options.

I'm with a few others on here in that it depends on what he got paid, but regardless our team needed an enforcer in the worst way.

About a week ago I pegged us to sign him to a 4/28 deal. If we exceed 7 per by much, I'll be a little peeved about it. If it approaches 10 per or beyond I'll be furious, unless it is a one year deal.

I feel at 7 per Jordan could slide into a valuable reserve role once we figure out the front line starters. Even with the cap rising, 10 per is getting too close to starter money.

Bird said today that Paul George is our PF. Add in that I don't see any way that CJ Miles gets buried by a Solo Hill, and I think you see something more like this:
Hill/vet/Young
Monta/Stuckey
Miles/Solo/Rudez
George/Allen/Whittington
Mahinmi/Hill/Turner

Andre Miller and Like Ridnour are out there too.

I'd imagine a guy like Ridnour would make sense. A vet that can run a bit, not be offended if he loses minutes to Ellis and Stuckey, tutor Young, and likely take a 1 year deal for about $2m.

A vet like Nelson sounds good. He's a guy that can come off the bench with a hot hand and single handedly change a game.

Someone like Nelson may sound good, but I would be worried about defense. If he plays next to Stuckey and Miles, the perimeter would probably not be too secure. I like the idea of a shooter though, so I'm really unsure about it. If you slide Solo in to these types of lineups, then it makes it more watchable on defense. Plus, LaVoy (maybe) and Ian (Who knows who the starter will be) would help make up for the perimeter D from the bench quite a bit.

But anyway, I am starting to like this roster. Lots of guys with at least some versatility, and could create some lineups that would be exceptionally more interesting than those we've had in the past. I will miss Big man ball though. Guess that's why Grizz are my favorite team to watch (besides Pacers).
