How bout this for a pipe dream?

Bucks trade MCW to HOU for Terrence Jones

then 5.2 (zaza) TPE and three 2nds to SAC for Darren Collison
then 4.5(dudley) TPE and 2016-1st-lp to BOS - Tyler Zeller

need to trade Bayless/JOB for SF

Monroe / Zeller/ Plumlee
Parker / Jones /
Giannis / Parker / Ingliss
Middleton / Mayo / Vaughn
Collison / Vasquez / Ennis

With Ibaka Adams and McGary I'd imagine they let Kanter walk at that price. I mean I know I would. I'm ecstatic about Monroe and I know if we had whiffed on Moose and 3yr 50mil at Kanter was the consolation, I'd be pretty upset. And I like Kanter, he's just horrendous on 1 side and not good enough to overcompensate on the other. No way is he worth that type of coin. Kanter is probably worth about 2mil less than Robin Lopez IMO.

OKC will match. No other choice if they want to keep Durant next year.

I believe it to be the complete opposite actually. I'm pretty sure Durant would want that money better spent elsewhere rather than basically watching it burn every time he gets disgusted with Kanter getting scored on constantly and not passing him the ball enough. I find it hard to believe that keeping Kanter on a bad contract is something Durant thinks is a deal closer.

I don't think OKC can spend the money elsewhere. I'm pretty sure they're over the cap or very close to it.

That is the worst use of the term "pipe dream" I have ever seen.

Yeah he was brought up in the offseason thread when the Bucks were rumored to be interested, he is the same size as Gobert +50lbs, older and slower but he also has a jumper. He may struggle to defend speed in the NBA but I dont know how anyone stops him from scoring.

Probably too good to be true. I'd worry a bit that Gandalf would lead him off on a quest.

I'll wait for Chuck's scouting report before passing final judgement.

I'm floored at the Kanter offer sheet.

There is no why to quantify how bad he is defensively. But I'll try. Basketball Ref has his DBPM at -1.9 for his career. That is the worst of all time. There are stories about him in the last week of the OKC season getting late 4th pointers from teammates as to how to play the PnR. This is a player who has had every resource available to him. He couldn't play at UK but he spent a season with Cal and his team. He has been in the NBA for 4 years with coaches that will work with him on anything. Instead of developing his defense he started shooting 3s. And its not like they wouldn't have pressed an all time awful defender to get better. Its why he got sent packing from Utah for a bag of peanuts, and why they got noticably better.

And still he wouldn't work at his craft. Now he has signed a 70M contract. Do you really think he is going to suddenly find passion for improving his defense now that he and his family have a lifetime of security?

Do you think you can even leave a defender that bad in the game in the playoffs? Teams are going to put him at the fulcrum of everything they do. He is unplayable.

That contract is INSANE. I cannot imagine OKC matching that. I'd be pissed if he signed half that deal here.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Returning to play against his former team Saturday night, Thunder center Enes Kanter claimed to have plenty more he could say about his tumultuous tenure with the Utah Jazz, but still didn't hold back all that much.

Enes Kanter made provocative comments about his preference for playing in Oklahoma City over Utah. Amin Elhassan says much of that has to do with the fact that the Thunder are using him the right way.

"I love it," Kanter said before the game of his change of scenery. "It's a team I've never experienced before and I actually like playing basketball there. I'm just so comfortable and everything is in the right place. I'm just really happy to be there."

And it showed, as he continued his hot streak with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 94-89 loss to the Jazz.

This is pretty much a perfect encapsulation of Kanter.

If OKC just lets Kanter walk they would be looking to make another move to prevent Durant from flipping out. At least you'd think they would.
