I like that, makes sense! :) Also good to get away from Linsanity, he needs a new identity on this team

Correct me if I'm wrong. But this is probably why Lin turned down MLE money. MLE has to be for 3 years right?

Both can be for 1 year, Bi-Annual has a 2-year max whereas MLE has 4.

Correct. This signing simply shows that Jeremy Lin, like many of his fans, truly believe he is being way underrated right now. He probably could have got $7M easily with any team, however, he would have to agree to a multi-year deal. By signing a short term one year deal with a team that will give him the opportunity to play, I think he can really contribute and improve his status when all the FA money opens up next year. After signing guys he outplayed many times signing huge contracts (Reggie Jackson, Brandon Knight etc.), I am sure Lin believes he can do that if he is given the chance to do so.

If Lin plays 30+ mins per game and he is the true PG for majority of these minutes, I think he and the Hornets will do very well. Hornets finally got some guys who can shoot the ball and Lin is excellent and creating for others and scoring on his own.

If he gets along with the coach and he has a major role on the team, I don't see any reason why he won't sign a big long term deal after this year.

Welcome to Charlotte Jeremy Lin

Hi, I'm a (disgruntled) Knicks fan, been following Lin on and off since he left the Knicks. You guys got a fun board here. Good luck this season!

It's funny how someone's value is so relative. A lot of Mavs fans didn't want Lin, and neither did Lakers fans, but here most people seem satisfied (even thrilled) with Lin's signing. Also, have a realistic picture of what he can and can't do for the team. He's probably happy about that. I've never seen a player wear expectations so heavily.

I didn't follow last season too closely (no reason to with the Knicks being as depressing as they were) -- I'm curious about Lance. What was he like in Charlotte, and how do you think he'll be in LA?

As for his reasons to join Charlotte - I think as someone said, maybe he did not want the spotlight nor the high expectations. Now he has gone from overrated to underrated. Glad he made a decision for himself and not for the money or glory.I expect and hope lin to get around 28 minutes.

My thoughts about Kemba - I thought he improved a lot last season? I know some people comment on his overall career FG but wasn't his last season pretty good? I don't follow him but I did look him up at one point.

Also, can someone give me the quick breakdown about Al? Seems to me the board generally dislikes him lol, why is that?

Look forward to watching hornets games, and also HAPPY that I don't have to stay up late to watch those atrocious laker games.

Kemba was having a career year (at least from December til mid January) before he got hurt and had to have knee surgery. Kemba really struggled with his FG% after he came back in March. There is a long standing joke about December Kemba - who is an all-star level player.

lol thanks, it's too bad he struggled - I wonder how many players ever really get back to form from an injury like that.

we are an incredibly optimistic bunch. it's always butterflies, puppies, and rainbows. you'll love everyone here

He'll be here for one season- it's a typical rehabilitation of market value contract- and I expect he'll be pretty good here.

My thoughts about Kemba - I thought he improved a lot last season? I know some people comment on his overall career FG but wasn't his last season pretty good? I don't follow him but I did look him up at one point.

It's pretty mixed. He looked like he was having a breakout year when he caught fire in December and January, but then had knee surgery and wasn't the same for the rest of the year.

Also, can someone give me the quick breakdown about Al? Seems to me the board generally dislikes him lol, why is that?

No defense, holds on to the ball too much, stems the flow of the game, doesn't set screens, isn't a certain African 22-year-old with a 7'7 wingspan, inconsistent conditioning, etc. We'd much rather have a defender or a shooter in his place.

Look forward to watching hornets games, and also HAPPY that I don't have to stay up late to watch those atrocious laker games.

If our games started at 10:30, I wouldn't have watched many last year either.

Thanks for your insightful answers. it seems like according to his contract structure, you are correct in that he will be here 1 year to boost up his value and then test the market again with an opt-out. Hope he does well while he's here and if he does come back would be good to see continuity.

Well, I mean green Hornet was the white guy. Bruce Lee played Kato and did the real butt kicking.

Lins playing for like NO Money in NBA terms.....he chose to be in Charlotte versus other teams for a lot more money and there were other teams. He's excited about being there and there are some real good reasons to like him...Hes a team guy....he can play....hes better than most think and his defense is all about effort. He's going to try. He's terrible at fighting through screens. He's going to help this team win some games....

The debate of who's better, walker or Lin is ridiculous.....they are both team mates...its about playing together and winning....thats it....so don't participate in that ridiculous Lin VS debate.....every Hornets fan right now should be celebrating the fact he's there at 2 million a year.....thats the steal of the off season!

Eh...I'd rather not have it hinge on the race connection (just like Asian Sensation and Amasian didn't hit the mark and came off as kind of racist). Doubtful that Green Hornet would be a choice if Lin wasn't Asian. I really don't like the Green Hornet for Lin, it just seems kind of racist, even though I know you don't mean it that way.

I prefer Buzzanity. You've even got the logos for it already

Buzzanity in Buzzcity. If he'd gone with the Mavs, it would doubtless have been Mavsanity or something. I think Buzzanity is also the term they're trying to promulgate on twitter. And it has a team oriented focus, since Lin's play involves his whole team. When he runs a PnR as a maestro, he's working with all 5 guys on the court, not just the screening big, but the open shooters and cutters as well. He elevates the play of his teammates.

I'm fine with buzzanity. That being said, I must be missing something. Why would green hornet be considered racist? That went over my head.

Buzzanity sound corny. He need to get away from the New York Linsanity acclaim and Buzzanity is even more extra corny since he's a new face, a backup that's not the face of the team and is prolly the least paid in the rotation.

I guess because it sounds like lumping all Asians together (assuming Green Hornet is being picked for the Kato reference). Kind of like calling him Bruce Lee or something.

Don't worry I'm Asian and don't find The Green Hornet racist. If another Asian has a problem they can suck on a small one....oh wait now that is racist...sorry fellow asians :-?

What the hell is our beat writer doing? Said today he doesn't know the contract details, and we had to get that from a third party. Its ridiculous
