I hope we don't retire Haslem's jersey. He's been with a while but I think quality of play should trump longevity and intangibles when it comes to retiring a jersey.
Your emotions fuel the narratives that you create. You see what you want to see. You believe what you want to believe. You ascribe meaning when it is not there. You create significance when it is not present.

If the 6 does go up, it won't mean very much to anyone down here. He earned it in his brief time here, but he's in no way connected to the organization. Personally, I'd be happier seeing Glen Rice's #41 go up.

What situation? Not cater to his every demand for his "boys"? That's now how the Miami Heat operate and never have.

Amnestying Mike Miller to save $$$. Sends the wrong message after he took a paycut.

Mike Miller had about two good games for the Heat. He was well overpaid. We didn't cut a guy who was a consistent producer. The false narrative on this story is so bad. If he would have been a contributing member of the team he wouldn't have been amnestied.

Mike Miller was great in his last two Finals series with the Heat and had a nice year with Memphis the year after. You cut him to save money after players took a paycut to win. It's a **** move and they paid for it.

Why isn't Malone up there anyways? He brought them a title and was a great player for them

Like LeBron, he only played here for 4 years.

Some people think it should be officially retired, some people think it's cheap to retire someone who was only here for a short period of time. Unofficially retiring splits the difference.

I bet they will, especially if Riles is out of the organization a couple years after LeBron's retirement (which I imagine he will be). I would almost guarantee it if Wade has any role inside the organization during his retirement though. I would probably retire Shaq's jersey also though so I could be way off.

That's considerably more than Michael Jordan did for them, and they retired his jersey.

Great isn't the word I'd use. He had ONE great game versus OKC. He did have a very GOOD series against the Spurs though.

However, if you'd like to suggest that not washing the balls of Lebron was a mistake, when he's notorious for not having a good relationship with management, then you're seeing something I'm not. Lebron **** up with "The Decision". The whole world was against him and he felt he could right it by going back to Cleveland, a team well stocked with assets to achieve another run at championship contention. That's why he left.

Maybe he didn't like Mike Miller being amnestied. Oh well, that's what a player on any team has to deal with. Putting any blame on Riley for Lebron being an egomaniac is laughable. Riley put forth the effort to bring him back while Gilbert spat venom his way, and he still went back to Cleveland. That is not normal. And definitely not because of Mike Miller. A team with an owner publicly raping Lebron versus a team amnestying his buddy who was an injury liability? And that's Riley's fault? No.

Will Miami retire Lebron's jersey?

Post#33 » by Benedict_Boozer » Sat Jul 11, 2015 1:22 am

Surprised by the lack of gratitude from some of the heat posters. Guy wins you 2 rings as finals MVP and gets two MVP awards in your squads jersey? Not a large list of guys you can even say that about period for any team.

Is what it is I guess.

LeBron showed no effing gratitude to the Heat during the 2014 offseason, and did Miami/Riley dirty even worse than what we saw from Deandre yet no one says anything

We appreciate his efforts in securing two chips for us. We don't like how he treated Riley on the way out. Riley IS the Heat.

Do you want us to get on our knees? Like I said we'll reassess a decade from now when his career is all said and done. Worry about your own fan base/team.

Nope. Miller had some gritty flashes in the playoffs, but for the most part his time with the Heat was a failure. Making over 6mil as a 34 yr old who was chronically injured was hardly some great paycut he accepted to be on a chip team. He didn't come close to meeting expectations during his time with the Heat. A lot of that was injury, but it is what it is. So sorry it offended Lebron's delicate nature, but it was a very legitimate basketball move. Miller didn't earn his contract with the Heat. He rarely played and was a complete nonfactor during his time with us. The Heat have taken all this criticism for opting to move on from a player who was making 6mil to barely play half a season and average less than 5ppg. Riley chose to do what what was best for the team and his owner, not massage Lebron's giant ego.

After Riley retires, maybe. I don't think the Arison's have much ill will towards Lebron. But Haslem, Wade, and Bosh will get theirs retired first most likely.

Does Lebron even want his jersey retired in Miami? It doesn't seem like he wants to even acknowledged he played here.

I think both sides would need some reconciliation for it to happen. But hey, if Lebron can forgive Dan Gilbert, he can forgive Pat Riley.
