Re: Around the League
Wow 17.5M per season for four years is a monster offer for Enes Kanter. Seems that trade deadline deal and fresh start for Reggie and Enes really paid off for both of them.

Novak could be the 3rd PF shooter if Stan really does see Miller as a 3 still (according to Mayo article) but he's probably not worth the bother.
Change my mind on this - I'd trade Cartier Martin for Steve Novak. We have about $2M under the cap, Novak makes 3ish, Martin makes $1M. This move would save OKC tax money once they match Kanter deal.

Re: Around the League
Teletovic didn't last long as an UFA after Brooklyn removed his qualifying offer. He signed a 1-year deal with Phoenix for $5.5 million. That's not bad for him, although I'm not the biggest fan of Mirza even without the blood clot issues he went through.
Kanter on a 4-year max worth $70 million is questionable at best though. He's a decent option on offense but is absolutely terrible on defense regardless of who he's playing next to (Favors, Gobert, and Ibaka all included). I think Portland is just putting the screws to Oklahoma City with that offer sheet.

Baynes is making more next year than Duncan. I'm still trying to let that sink in. (I'm not down on the Baynes signing at all, or about his contract, just thought this was funny.)

Portland or Dallas should offer mad max money at Tristan Thompson so that the Cavs overspend and get in financial trouble soon as well.

Any way the Pistons could get PJIII or Novak? Seems like both could be potential fits with what SVG is trying to do.
Bring Augustin back?

Re: Around the League
Im surprised Butler didn't wait. He could have got a deal from a contender later in FA. The kings are a mess and they aint winning anything next season. At least he's getting paid. Good for him.

Re: Around the League
I'd love to have Augustin back. He was great under Stan. But I don't think he'd want to come back. PJ3 would be a nice pick up.

Re: Around the League
Kanter will never be as good as Aldridge. OKC might want to let him walk unless they know they can keep the other big three on that team. I don't think Kanter is as good as Monroe either while he will make even more. Wow.

Re: Around the League
^They're in a tough spot because of Durant's pending free agency. If Durant was locked down to a 5 yr contract I don't think there is any chance they'd match that with Adams and McGary rostered - do they have a MLE to use? 5.4M for a back-up center this season would have been the way to go here.

Re: Around the League
I don't think the Mavs are interested in tanking this season.
They went thru with it and signed Wes Mathews.
They traded for Zaza
They signed Deron Williams
They are looking to make more moves...

Re: Around the League
I can see a case either way for the Thunder keeping Kanter or letting him walk. Rarely is there an issue I have so little opinion about.
Maybe I'm just getting burned out from player moves.

I can't honestly believe the Thunder are incapable of affording him. They play the small market card so often, but their revenue from Durant and Westbrook merchandise alone should be impressive.
Sign him, don't sign him. Honestly could not care less about the Thunder's future plans. Detroit doesn't have the roster space to seriously consider absorbing another salary dump.

Kanter may end up being a solid, but average Center in the NBA. If that happens and Durant bolts, then OKC may be skrewed in the long run. I would pass and let Portland be that team that is salary capped.
