Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread**
Bobby Portis scored 23 points and Towns 9 and we are happy?
Who is Bobby Portis?
And what will happen if Towns has to face an nba center? I dont want to imagine..
We heared that he is an all around player and has good defense.
I dont see that. He is weak in the lower body and that will not change so easy.
It has not to do only with the weight. Wiggins is thinner but has incredible lower body strength.
Okafor is better defender than Towns because he is strong and unfortunately quicker than Towns. In offense there is no comparison. And I dont see a comparison in general.
We have picked a guy from the workouts and from videos showing him hitting 3s. Sory, this makes no sense.
I will say it one more time. Towns has a big value right now. My opinion is to trade him as fast as possible and take something real good.
In 3 or 4 months he will not have the same value.
This is my opinion. I wish I am wrong and Towns becomes the new Anthony davis but I dont see that in no case.
I will try to not write in this thread again until the regular season begins. I dont want to disturb any more the happiness of selecting him. I just said my mind about how this team could get better. It was a big opportunity with the first draft pick to build something special. I wish this will become somehow true.

I like Towns. Great impact player on defense while offensively, his right hand hook off the post is hard to defend because of his touch, athleticism and reach. He also can shoot like a swingman. He just needs to learn how to funnel that energy and focus on efficiency.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

The whole team was 24-76.
Towns, Payne, LaVine, and Jones combined for 19-51, which means everyone else combined for 5-25.
Jones and Payne combined for 10-20. Towns and LaVine combined for 9-31 (mostly because LaVine was 5-20).

Can we please quit with the Sixer-fan obsession here?

There's more to the NBA center position than just scoring.

Flip Saunders did not draft him because of a few videos. He probably didn't even see the videos. He was able to see the potential of Towns in person with his own two eyes.
Sorry, but I'm not going to let two glorified scrimmages determine the NBA career of our draft pick like you are.
I don't think anyone is saying he's perfect or he's already an NBA superstar. If there is than please point them out to me. What we are saying is that he's got the tools. The passing, the defensive ability, the shooting, he's shown flashes of it all.

God I hate these knee-jerk reactions. Towns will be fine, he just needs a bit of time, everybody knew that he's not nearly a finished product.

Srsly, if Wiggins had a couple of really rough months everyone would have called the trade a fail. Towns didn't play well for one SL game. He also hasn't had any coaching, people forget that this guy wasn't a polished offensive player like Okafor. We drafted him cause he's a potential mega-star, not so he'd be a walking double double this year.

It would be kind of cool to see Embiid play and I wouldn't say anything bad about him, but Sixer fans have made it pretty hard to cheer for him. I know there's some good ones over there, but the vocal minority like 76iology...
It's actually only 2-3 trolls that go on your boards and lakers boards to troll. I apologize on their behalf
Anyways I have a feeling the top 5 picks in this drafts will all be at least all-stars

I still stand with my position with Wigs, and I hope you guys can respect it. But I think Towns can be special. There are few guys in the league that can match-up with his energy, length and athleticism.

I think Towns is a little bit ahead of where KG was at the same age.

These are summer league games, but i like what i see of Towns. Also teams are double teamed him all the time, something that is not going to happen when season starts.

KG was (and still is) a different animal, more slim, athletic and fueled by rage and passion. I think there's no point in compare this two.
I've seen both games and there has been enough flashes of what he might be on the long run for us to be at least content.
Cant wait for the start of a brand new seasson ^^U.

BIll Russell never had a bad summer league game in his life! Glen Rice Jr was the MVP of the summer league last year and look where he is! Almost single handily carried the Wizards to the championship

Good thing you agreed to not post again till the season, should take that a step further and not post at all anymore...depressing . 2 SL games and writing this guy off

He may not of had a couple great games statsicly but he is showing his worth with effort and hustle. Been watching SL for awhile now and I have seen plenty good NBA players struggle out the gate in this setting. We got towns for his tools and upside. I expect him to get better each game. So some ppl need to relax.
You gotta love summer league overreactions
I like Towns ability to pass (that takes him out of the "Andrew Bynum Can't Pass Out of a Double Team Club"), and he seems to have a decent post game and jumpshot. His defense also looks good, except for the fouling part.

No, he's not. He's little more polished of a shooter, but that's about it. By the time Garnett was 20, he was already one of the better 4's in the league. He averaged 17, 8 and 3 to go with combined 3.5 steals/blocks. He was already an All Star.
