Most of us don't rate Sterling, I especially don't like how he acts as a legend at 20. Decent player, not special, but maybe I'm wrong lol

Yeah, definitely not 50M worth of special, even in this market that is outrageously high.

That's a joke that Liverpool thought he was worth £50 million, even funnier that City decided to pay it. Definitely certain that they could've found a cheaper/better alternative abroad, I'm not even sure he's better than Milner and they let him go for nothing.

English market has just shattered.

200k wages are even worse. High transfers are expected based on potential, but wages are supposed to be based on current performance. 200k a week is too much

And he's also pretty good already.

We are talking about the best English player of his generation and the richest club in the country who don't care about money. 50M is a lot, but it's not surprising.

Bayern is simply too predictable without Ribery and Robben and should finally add similar type of players as solid backups. Both Ribery and Robben are too injury prone.

Götze is too slow to play on the wing. He was simply disappointing last season when he got plenty of playing time there. He couldn't create anything while a player like Ribery is a real threat as soon as he has the ball on the left wing. He goes past the defender with ease.

That's cause Mario should be played deeper, a la Iniesta, instead of Pep trying to force him to become Messi.

You are correct. A nice prospect, but there are others on his level in his age group and some of those have a good bit more potential. Sterling certainly could develop into a Bale, but it'll take time and he'll have to put a lot of work in, while staying healthy. That's an absurd sum; but EPL-money leads to many silly sums getting handed out for over-rated talent.

I liked many their foreign signings. Can was their best buy last summer; Markovic has similar talent to Sterling (though he needs to show in year 2 that he has adapted to the EPL, a process that often takes a season for many players); Moreno is a talented young FB; their crown jewel and star, Roberto Firmino; and was Coutinho this regime or the previous one? Balotelli was a stupid waste of money though.

It's their EPL buys that have been awful, Lallana and Lovren were just stupefyingly overpriced.

All United's buys this window have been very solid. Good value, too.

For example, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin and Darmian for roughly the same price City got Sterling.

Basti has the body of a 90-year old, 20M for him is a ton of money.

Disagree.

The guy is 30 and has been one of the best midfielders in the world for years. World class players adapt as they age. See Pirlo, Xavi, Scholes, Alonso, Gerrard etc.

Carrick has been class in recent years and he is going on 34.

30 year old Shweinsteiger at 14m is great value. he has at least 2 good years, probably more. The WC took a toll on him last year but he should be rested now.

Another question. What would you prefer, Sterling at 50m or Depay at 25m? United's business has been pretty dam good thus far.

I don't want to rain on your parade Re; schweini so I'll just leave that be. As for your question well obviously Depay is a better value than Sterling, but I wasn't contesting your post. Just wanted to point out that that was a lot of money for Schweini at this point.
