Would you take a chance on embiid?
I doubt it they do it but would you take Embiid if the Sixers dump him? Would he be a good fit for Drummond at PF if healthy?

Yes I would take a chance on him. I don't know what it would take to get him tho.

I'd rather take a chance on Sullinger than Embiid. Embiids foot didn't heal in a year...that is really bad news.

Re: Would you take a chance on embiid?
I'd take Embiid in a salary dump, or basically nothing to take a chance on him. He will be out next season, but he'll have two more seasons on his rookie deal after that.
I doubt Philly is seriously considering trading him though.

Re: Would you take a chance on embiid?
Sure, if the price is low enough. For Jennings, if it appears we don't need him? Sure. For a 2nd, or for our 1st next year if we're picking out of the lottery? Maybe, depends on what's available.
His value has certainly tanked, though.

Re: Would you take a chance on embiid?
Phila ain't giving up on him for a salary dump, and I wouldn't be willing to pay the price it would take for them to trade him at this time.

Re: Would you take a chance on embiid?
Philly is still going to demand a big ransom for him so probably not.
But yeah, I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him.

Re: Would you take a chance on embiid?
Embiid slid to #3 when there was cautious optimism about his health. After the news since, his value has declined significantly. Couple that with the fact most people don't expect us to make the playoffs, our 2016 first seems very fair.
All that said, I wouldn't do it because 1)Dre and 2) we aren't so flush with assets we can take big risks.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Re: Would you take a chance on embiid?
I'd gladly pay him to rehab and hope he recovers, but I wouldn't give up any assets for him at this point. Even if he makes a comeback next year, he'll probably be on minute restrictions. Anyway, it isn't happening. Phili isn't looking to dump salary. They are going to have to overpay people next year just to hit the minimum salary levels.

If the asking price is a 2nd round pick, then yes.

Re: Would you take a chance on embiid?
He's got tremendous, tremendous potential. Top 3-5 big man in the league potential imo. Plus he can shoot (just didn't get a chance to showcase it much at Kansas) and I think he'd a great complement to Drummond.
With that said his health is just terrible, he hasn't even played a single game yet and looks to be headed down Oden's career path. I'd do it if the asking price is anything outside of Dre/Reggie/Stanley, not willing to break up that core to do it.

Re: Would you take a chance on embiid?
If Detroit had the Phoenix Suns' medical staff and Kander was still with us, then I'd trade a 1st rounder for Embiid.
Since we have Drummond, there's no need to get Embiid (who I guarantee will be fine after this surgery due to bow bone grafting works along with maturing/bone fusion), but it would be funny to see what the sixers would ask for him.

I assume you would have said that after the first surgery. If recovery was guaranteed, he would be recovered by now.

Re: Would you take a chance on embiid?
i was never high on him. sure, hes a great talent but i never seen the all world talent most did. hes really never going to be a franchise center as that injury will probably linger his whole career. im not even sure he ever plays.

Definitely not, and I bet there is no way Henkie would trade him without Drummond and/or a slew of picks.

Actually, I was someone that believed that he'd just get injured again and again (reason why I thought they kept him out the whole first season), but that's because I thought he already had bone grafting done (meaning that even with osteoblasts being accumulated, his foot was still inherently unstable). Basically, if the surgery is done correctly, osteoblasts will form around the grafting and work as filling so the area will be substantially stronger. Still, I question Embiid's maturity during the rehab process as he could just end up irritating his foot again.
Regardless, I wouldn't take a chance on Embiid since there's no need for him here and he doesn't have the same kind of mentality that our core has.
