Yeah WCS was way more active yesterday against Denver.

This.

Back when I watched Jeff Withey in college, the guy knew where to move on every single play to shut the other team down. He didn't foul and didn't bite on pump fakes either.

Cauley-Stein is more athletic, but from what I'm seeing he doesn't understand positioning like Withey did. Makes a huge difference.

Vivek - "Many of the things you heard were simply not true, in terms of free agents we allegedly made offers to..."

I'm looking at you, Wes Matthews. And you, Lou Williams!

Barry shutting up this guy

Guy talking about Kings: "You don't want things to linger"

Barry: "Well you brought it up again so its lingering"

Ideally, McAdoo shouldn't be able to score a layup or draw a foul on Cauley-Stein.

I know, it's great having a Kings alum on the broadcast team. Mateen was reppin for the team last night as well.

Cauley-Stein leaves the game on a positive note. Gets an and-1 and hits the free throw. He's 3-3 on free throws tonight, which is great.

Much better game in that one. Anderson, Cauley-Stein, Stockton, Wear, Dukan, Moreland, and Liggins all looked really good in their respective roles.

tyguy wrote:Willie still seems way better suited to play center to me. part of summer league is about working on things that aren't necessarily a strong suit. I want to see them run some pick and pop for him, or anything for him to get some jumpshots up. He will have a hard time playing power forward if he isn't taking some open shots to give cousins space. The jumpshot he showcased in the predraft showed excellent form; I really, really want to see if that same form shows in in a live game.

I think the exact opposite. He wants to come up high and switch, when he did that next to Dukan and Wear it was pretty much an easy 2 near the rim. There was just no protection there anymore. Then when he was staying at the rim he wasn't a force in guarding pick and roll or coming out high and using his athletic ability.

I didn't see him in a position to shoot jumpers and that bothers me more than anything. That's a coaching call.

Haven't been able to watch summer league this year. What do you guys who have watched think so far, on the balance, will WCS be able to contribute meaningful minutes this season?

Yeah, he's pretty much what you saw in college, except his offense near the rim has been better IMO. He's not super polished but as a 5th in line role player he should be just fine. I don't think the strategy in SL has done a whole lot to make the most of his unique defensive abilities though. That or show if he can be useful on the perimeter. After the game he mentioned something about playing 5 feet and in because that's how they are playing but he did say he can hit the J.

I thought WCS looked pretty good today imo. 13 pts 8 reb 5 blks in 17 minutes.
