Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread**
I don't think Towns and Dieng are a great pairing in the first years at least. They are practically the same type of defender at the moment - too weak to defend some of the beasts of the NBA at C, and too slow to guard some of the quickest PF's. I think their pairing would work half the nights at most, while being a liability the other half.

Our bigs will look like this to start the season.
KG/Payne/Bennett
Towns/Dieng
KG/Payne/Bennett
Towns/Dieng
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

I hope it's based on who genuinely earns it through training camp and preseason but I would pencil in Bjelica as the back up 4 going in to the season. Between Bjelica, Payne and Bennett I hope one of them actually earns the spot and Flip goes in with an open mind and a clean slate for all.

Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread**
His defense/shot blocking has impressed me a lot. He's not as physically gifted with a crazy vertical or quick twitch reaction but he's very cerebral. The dude is constantly putting himself into favorable positions and angles to defend the paint. It looks like he needs to stay high and strong, and lose some habits like being handsy but there's a lot of potential as a two way player

I like how he's not trying to over-help and how he sometimes watches how the things will play out on D. It seems like he's playing the percentages game, tho I must admit that my homer lenses might be projecting it. At least he isn't like Dieng trying to stop everything fooled by his length, he's definitely more calculated.

Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread**
Am I the only think Towns will more than likely not start at the beginning of the season? I think Dieng will be the one starting. Dieng seems to have earned that position (doesn't take much) and will be his position to lose. And I think Dieng and Towns will likely be the starters next season. And if Towns can figure out how to stop fouling or the usually injuries happen, he could be starting towards the end of the year.

I think his BBIQ is right up there with KG's and he has the physical makeup of a Rasheed Wallace.

He might be, but I'm not sure what happened last night to inspire this tweet.

I feel with training camp, more experience and scouting reports towns will actually look better in the season. Also not being the 1st option and slightly less min will help too. Summer league is fast (not as fast as regualr season) sloppy and has teams experiment with there players. With towns being more of a calculated player its my believe he will look much better. Plus flip will only give him as much responsibility as he can handle off the start.

I think he's played fairly well in SL. Although, last night was the first time he consistently saw 1-on-1 matchups, and he struggled. I thought he'd be able to get around guys like Cooley a little better instead of settling for jumpers, but that's just me being impatient.
You're right though, I think better players, structure, and Rubio putting him in places to get easy shots will help alot. I would be very pleased if he can put up Anthony Davis type rookie numbers 13pts/8rebs/2asts/2blks. I still think once his body fills out and he becomes more comfortable, he's going to be a great player.
I actually like this draft class alot. Towns, Russell, Okafor, Porzingis, Hezonja, WCS, Mudiay, Johnson, Winslow, and Turner all have some star potential to me. I know it's just SL, but Johnson and Turner were very impressive and will get minutes this year.

I
Yeh I think he's doing just fine out there. You can tell he's trying to find his rythem out there. I liked how he came out in the second half. In time he will be able to figure out how to use that versatility. Driving on Cooley didn't work because a soon as contact was made he lost his balance then his shot wasn't falling either because I think he lost his legs and perhaps had to many things going on in his head to mental make those shots. ( should I pass, what move to I go to, drive or shoot) when he becomes more desicive through more rep i feel he will have a rasheed Wallace type offensive game. Hopefully at another level tho.
I predict if pek is healthy towns will play about 24min in games were all our biggs are healthy and playing. and around 28-30 on games without pek/Garnett. I don't see a need for any more min than that unless he's out playing the vets. Cousins played 28 and was 14 and 8 I believe. I would be happy if he were able to play 26-28min with 10-12ppg and 7-8Rpg.
One more note, I'd like to see them run more sets like the ones kaminsky gets. Simple pick and pop 3 from the top of the key. Gives him a chance to set his feet and get a good look.

His low shooting % and high foul rate was to be expected, but I am still disappointed by it.

I expect him to have a Demarcus Cousins type of rookie season, where he's very productive, but can't stay out of foul trouble.

Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread**
When KAT is 25 he is going to be a monster.
A line up to start the year of Rubio/Martin/Wiggins/KG/Towns could be pretty fun. KAT won't have nearly as much attention on him, and even if he does he's shown the ability to make the defense pay with his passing.
I can't wait to see him get wide open jumpers from Rubio's passing and the defense having to account for the other guys on the floor (they can cheat big time onto KAT in SL).
Let's try to enjoy the growing process for this team, rather than nitpick them. It's been a long wait for this good of a roster, but they are going to take a couple seasons at least to grow into their own bodies and build chemistry.
I'm really excited to see them grow into a contender down the line.

Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread**
almost every center has foul problems in his first. It's not a big deal. Also he won't face as much double teams during his first season as in summer league right now.
training camp shouldn't underestimated either. He'll be perfectly fine. His passing and defense is already really good, his shot will come along as his confidence grows.

Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread**
Towns having foul trouble in his first season was rather certain but that he manages to almost foul out in a summer league game twice? Certainly didn't see that coming. Probably going to be a lot of games next year where Towns plays only 15 to 18 minutes due to foul trouble.

Nah. He is being ULTRA aggressive defensively, he will dial it down when he doesn't have 10 fouls to work with. Experience and gaining strength with help him defend without fouling.

And not having summer league refs reffing the game will help more than anything.
