Ty Lawson Arrested for DUI............................. again.

Post#1 » by Yuri Vaultin » Tue Jul 14, 2015 2:14 pm

Denver Nuggets star Ty Lawson got busted for DUI in Los Angeles last night -- his second DUI arrest this year.
TMZ Sports has learned Lawson was pulled over by CHP for speeding on the 101 Freeway early this morning ... and officers determined he showed signs of intoxication ... so they gave him a field sobriety test.
Didn't go so good for Lawson. He was arrested around 2:30 AM.
We actually spoke to Lawson as he and his GF Ashley King (former "Bad Girls Club" star) were leaving Le Jardin nightclub in Hollywood -- moments before they jumped on the freeway. Interesting ... we talked marijuana with him.
He's still in jail right now. His bail's been set at $5,000.
Lawson was also charged with a DUI in Denver, back in January.

I hope you guys can void his contract. He doesn't deserve the remaining money.

This is horrible on about every level.

I said it after the hookah incident (tame by comparison) - he seriously needs help. He's putting himself and a ton of other people at risk. I'm not going to play moralist, it's not why I post on here. I'm just going to say I hope he can get his life together. Everybody close to him is hopefully giving him no other option at this point. It's pretty clear, to me, that they've been enabling him to get here today.

As for the Nuggets, I have no idea where this leaves them. Will be interesting to see if a buyout becomes a legitimate possibility. I cannot see a scenario where he is put into a gym with Mudiay.

Woke up to read this headline thinking initially that it was a misprint... ****

If we can void his deal, we probably should at this point. I assume, he has to face Jail time.

Can't even trade him now for anywhere near what he's worth, this situation is getting pretty ugly. It's almost getting to the point where you just cut ties with him. Can the guy not afford Uber? Ty is an idiot.

History tells you: Kroenke is not going to pay a big sum to part ways with him. Look at JaVale McGee's situation.

My best guess is suspending him indefinitely right away so he's nowhere near the team and facilities. After that, start exploring any and all trades, but it may mean several months until this is less fresh. The suspension from all team activities alleviates the "you can't have him near Mudiay!" and buys you some time. In a trade - you're taking back essentially nothing (if you're lucky), adding in something you don't want to (pick or player), and/or taking back something that's not awesome.

I have a seriously hard time believing the Kroenkes will pay him to go away, or pay him to sit the next season out.

Want to know what his teammates think of him?

Part of his parole agreement on his 1st dui was he not drink, so he broke parole, I'm guessing he's gonna see the inside of a jail cell....it'd serve him right for his stupidity !

I agree with this. The Nuggets will probably explore ways to get out of his contract legally but they won't pay him to go away, 25 million is too much for them to swallow. If anything he'll just sit in exile like Andre Miller until a move can be made. He's likely looking at some jail time for this, he has to get his personal life in order before he can start over professionally.

This whole situation is ****. By now we're going to have to include assets to trade him while probably also taking back bad contracts -- and I don't think that's worth it. At what point do the Nuggets no longer have the responsibility of doing right by him as a person? Ty clearly has a problem, and paying him $25million to simply go away is only going to make it worse. This guy needs help. We've seen professional athletes do far worse than this without seeing jail time, so I'd be surprised if that happens. The NBA can and should come down on him hard, and that might be the best scenario for both sides. Give him an indefinite suspension without pay. Force him to get some help, work his tail off, and prove to the Nuggets that he's ready to play basketball again. Maybe then we can salvage some sort of trade value or reevaluate the buyout option. Waiving him now and allowing him to sweet talk his way on to another (and probably better) team would be giving him the easy way out.

I love the tweet from Wilson!
I am fed up with Tys attitude towards our team,he is poison for the new guys. How many slaps from Ty do we need to take?
They are still teams in the leauge who will gladly take a gamble on him...I cant belive after so much love Denver gave him that he still continues to "spit in our face" he shouldnt be above the city and the franchise.Im disgusted with him, money changes people.

Well, right now the best option is to try and help Lawson with the the healing process. Not only does he need the help, it either will help reinvent him into the solid player he is on the court. His issues are off-court, yet seems like job-related insecurity stemming from how Shaw berated him, The Nuggets apathy towards the rebellion, drafting his replacement and his current unknown status on the team . Top that with some terrible home boys, alcohol and drugs (?)....but these behavior roadblocks can be dealt with and who better to put a helping hand out than the Nuggets. With the time it will take, it will probably keep him away from the team.

Agreed, I am actually starting to feel sorry for Lawson, I have no idea what is going on with him but obviously there are some big issues that have seemingly spun his life out of control. He needs help, and he needs it asap.

Aug. 17, 2013: Lawson and his
girlfriend are arrested after a
domestic violence dispute in
Arapahoe County. The case was later
dismissed.
April 4, 2014: Lawson is held out of
the starting lineup of a game at
Memphis because he missed a team
breakfast meeting.
Jan. 23, 2015: Lawson is arrested in
Denver on suspicion of drinking
and driving after a team charity
event. He was stopped going 61 mph
in a 35-mph zone and refused to
take a chemical test.
Feb. 18, 2015: Lawson fails to return
from a trip to Vegas in time for the
Nuggets' first practice after the all-
star break, irking then coach Brian
Shaw.
April 27, 2015: Lawson responds to a
fan's now-deleted Instagram
comment that he should join the
Mavericks. "I wish," Lawson
responded, creating a firestorm of
speculation about his desire to leave
Denver.
June 25, 2015: In a video posted
during the NBA draft, Lawson is
seen smoking a hookah and telling
friends: "Told you. I'm going to
Sacramento, bro."
July 13, 2015: Because of his
"traveling schedule," it is
announced that Lawson will miss
his youth skills camp.
July 14, 2015: Lawson is arrested in
Los Angeles on suspicion of
drinking and driving after an officer
spotted him traveling "at a high rate
of speed" at 1:30 a.m.

Really another chance?
There is no cure for stupidity.

Denver prosecution is apparently not happy about this arrest as he broke his bond from the January DUI and are trying to make Ty where a SCRAM bracelet on his ankle that can detect any alcohol in the system. He has a hearing on Friday to determine if that is needed and where the case will go. I don't think they are going to go too light on him, if they find that he did in fact violate his bond, which it appears as though he did, he could see jail time for that alone.
