Baseball America on Deolis Guerra/Fernando Martinez

Post#1 » by blueNorange » Fri Jun 22, 2007 8:13 pm

Guerra showed in his 2006 debut that he had the pitches and the command to succeed. He didn't begin to dominate until this season, when he added the five miles an hour to his fastball--up to 95 mph--that his 6-foot-5 frame suggested he would. Yet the most impressive thing about Guerra might be that he turned 18 just this season
:droop:

It's not easy being the youngest player in the Double-A Eastern League, as Martinez has proved with so-so play this season. But consider that at age 18, he's younger than most 2007 high school draft picks. Martinez' calling card is his bat, and he profiles to have the power and arm for right field.
He's gonna be the best prospect in all of baseball next year.

Iono, he and Cam Maybin may go 1 and 2.

Can't wait for the new stadium..

Don't the Mets have him playing CF now?

Yeah but he isn't the better outfielder of the 3(he's only 18 so you can't really judge him) but if Milledge doesn't get traded and Carp doesn't pan out then Martinez will be moved to 1B.

If only Milledge played 2B.

No... Milledge has a CANNON. I wish F Mart was a 2nd basemen. A 2nd basemen with his potential power? O.O

Only problem is Carp might keep Nando from 1st base.
