Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
I respect all opinions, but seeing "best player on the team" upside in Dinwiddie and "average at best stat-padder" in Jackson is just crazy talk, 313. Athletic ability matters in this league; Reggie has it, Mayor does not.

Dinwiddie does have scary potential, but we only seen it 2-3 games out of like 30 he played. It baffles me he doesn't see the potential in RJ in 27 games, most very good.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
Dinwiddie doesn't have scary potential at all. He's tall, yeah, and he's a PG, yeah, but that's about it.
Not explosive, not a great shooter, not a great defender... I realize he has more developing to do, but there's not a whole lot to be excited about in him. I hope he makes the jump and becomes a good player, but I just don't see it.

That size, he has vision. He was able to shoot in college. I seen him explode and dunk of a missed shot last year. Not sure he will be able to do that often or if he even regains his shot he had in college, but hopefully he does. He was coming off a pretty serious injury too

The best thing Dinwiddie can probably be is Andre Miller. I love that player so much. He's fantastic and you can definitely win with him. Always makes the right play. But I think that's Dinwiddie's ceiling. I don't think he'll get to that point but I see a similar style in play.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
Glad to have steered this RJ discussion into a Dinwiddie debate
To me Spencer looks like he has what it takes to be in the league. He can be a solid backup pg, and if we can get that out of a 2nd round pick, that's all you can hope for in my book.

Let this be a reminder to people panicking over summer league play. I put more value in how Dinwiddie played in real games than any SL game.
Dinwiddie is a baller. Little upper body strength... couple threes... he's the best player on our team. That young boy can ball but he's so weak. If Dinwiddie rose for a corner 3 and Kevin Love bench press pushed him with all his strength Dinwiddie would be in the 16th row

Yea man, I hated the Westbrook triple double streak. It's literally stealing rebounds from bigs and just.... cute. That triple double though? That's rare. And I think I'm done on Reggie for now we'll see. I just hope Brandon Jennings isn't mean to him when he takes his spot back... and Dinwiddie. I think RJ's a nice guy. I've never seen a player get benched for a rookie, start a losing streak, and put up misleading system stats, but then get rewarded with 5 years 80 million and the unwavering support of knowledgeable fans. Reggie Jackson is like an optical illusion to me. Really. I don't get it.
this sounds very similar to Brandon Jennings. Did you forget how bad Jennings was season before last? Cause it's pretty ironic you like him so much.
I don't really like Jennings that much either but he has more game than Reggie. From ball-handling to body language. Buying into SVG's system he can be efficient too because he's basically free to play MyPlayer ball.. It's good for Brandon's ego playing in a PG driven system. His lack of good defense, defensive versatility, and ability to finish inside consistently still make him less than ideal though. Brandon's game is so perimeter oriented it's streaky and I'm glad we have Spencer and Reggie to potentially take some usage from him. I think Spencer will be better than both of them maybe as early as this season honestly.
Btw, don't sleep on RJ's balanced 3. Off the dribble he doesn't have the swag to pull it off too much, but when balanced well RJ can hit 3's at a solid clip. This is why I wanna see him at the 2 more. PG 3's are usually more 911 shot clock 3's and unpredictable, and it's just something different about shooting 3's after you've been dribbling a lot trying to make plays for your teammates. Your mind is just more active and it's harder to focus. Letting him chill and pick his spots as a secondary facilitator at times I think will allow him to relax and actually be an above average 3pt shooter. Stroke is nice and he's strong.

I LOVE the Andre Miller comparison and I've said that I think that's around his FLOOR. Unlike Miller Spencer DOES have a 3. He hasn't knocked it down yet consistent but that will open up his game even more when he does.
In terms of the athleticism Dinwiddie is a MUCH smoother athlete than Reggie. Spencer needs to get stronger but he can glide and adjust his weight far better than Reggie. Reggie is a quick twitch athlete without great explosion so you know where he's going as a defender and if you beat him to the spot he's done. Spencer can glide around and make you play the middle ground as a defender and then he has the length to make his move. In the NBA smoothness > NFL combine tests of athleticism.
Literally all Spencer needs is more upper body strength (for 3's and finishing at the rim) and he's a top-tier guard. I pray that he's not lazy, HE gets that, and our trainers put him in the right workout programs. I might write him a letter lol

That has to be the most wildly optimistic outlook I've ever read for Dinwiddie.
Spencer, you just need to hit the bench press and you're the next Steph Curry!

His scalene triangle is:
45 - Shaun Livingston
120 - Manu Ginobili
15 - Kevin Durant
I made the Livingston and Ginobili comparison last year around this time but he has enough swag to throw in some KD type killer plays.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
I have thought Dinwiddie was similar to Doc Rivers on offense, except Doc was stronger and tougher on defense (and Doc didn't always shoot well in a season IIRC).
RJ seems like an above average NBA athlete (or so I thought). His limitations on defense seem to me to be about mentality. Body-wise, he looks like Rondo--but that doesn't mean he comes close athletically. Anybody have any better comparisons for RJ as an athlete, at the PG spot?

I'd put RJ in the Mike Conley camp. Really solid all-around athletes but lacking blazing speed or other worldly leaping ability. Nobody likes playing against conley. Hopefully by the end of next year, we'll be able to say the same thing about RJ.

I think he is Brandon Jennings. I'm convinced now.

RJ has to be much longer than Conley though, right?

eh - I'm sure someone can look up their wingspan, but I wouldn't say "much". He looks a little longer, but it's not like conley has short arms or something.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
You know, I did some looking, and something people here seem to be missing, is that Jackson is one of the heaviest PG's in the league. 6'3, 208lbs.
He's not a small pg, and outweighs all of them except for marcus smart I believe.
Unless of course my info is wrong, but he is almost exactly the same size a billups. (6'3 209lbs)
Wierd huh?

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
Reggie's a fairly big kid, yeah. Spider arms and not skinny like Rondo.
I don't think he's any bigger than a bunch of other guys, though. Smart and Mudiay are clearly bigger, Lowry, too. Deron. Paul's a little shorter, but strong. Rose is stronger. Westbrook is stronger.
