Is anyone else a little annoyed by this?
Why isn't he helping Suns players? I'm sure our guys could use some pointers from Nash.

He is feeling bad for not playing for Lakers cause of injuries so he is compensating.

IIRC a lot of us were pleased when McD started the full-on tank before things went shockingly well winning 48 games. Had we been terrible these past couple years collecting top-3 picks I'd be defending McD for his longterm patience. I don't have a problem with either the Suns or Sixers current plan.
I agree. I was happy with the chance at Wiggins or Parker, but when you do what we did, what are you going to do? Dump the players that showed success in hopes for something better? Not going to work.
Yeah, but the difference also is that we are a young team. If our success was solely because of Goran or Channing, I would've been all in favor of dumping them, and in fact we did eventually. It would be one thing if we were a middling veteran group, but we aren't. It's just that our conglomeration of youngsters happens to be better than teams like Philly, Utah, etc., and on no planet is that a bad thing. That gap can certainly close if Utah and Philly keep picking higher every year, but we aren't what most would call a treadmill team due to age. There's no doubt in my mind that our youngsters are far from finished products.

Dude, the debate's over. It was sorta interesting a few years ago, but it's over now.

Ideally you need to find an middle ground between the two divergent and seemingly polar paths. You gotta know when the ship is no longer steadied on course and decisiely blow it up at the right time so you put yourself in a position where you have a higher liklihood of acquiring a franchise talent via the draft which is nevertheless a crapshoot and game of chance. Suns were never willing to go down this riskier route due to Sarver wanting to play it safe and operate on a profit and opting to field a squad just intriuing enough to sell tickets and remain in the hunt(which we still miserably fail at due to overpricing). You can't bank on just one avenue so it helps to actually have pieces in place before you start up the tank, something the Sixers obviously forsook because they were worried that it would get in the way of their suckage. Yet as a GM you can't entirely gut your roster and treat it as a mere conglomerate of expendable assets to play career DLeaguers and absorb scrubs on terrible contracts just to gain more picks the reasoning being "The more shots you got the less you miss". Hinkie turns a profit by operating well under the cap floor and manipulating a loophole in end of the year salary calculation s. Over $22 million of #Sixers' $54M payroll last season was spent on at least 6 players waived after being acquired in trades. What the Sixers are doing is simply gaming the system and imbibing a culture that incentivizes losing that simply can't be overturend once they are satisfied.Too many wannabe GMs are drinking the Hinkie koolaid and chanting the "Trust in the process" mantra in hopes of self-validation
Paragraphs are there to help people read. Please use them. I am guessing few people will even read that. I didn't want to and I have to, so I'm guessing most people won't. If you split it into three paragraphs with an edit, everyone will read it, if you don't, I'm guessing you might get 20-40%.

But their fans are being fed hog wash by their GM who is stealing money technically.
I can honestly say I can do ALL the things Hinkie has done in the last 2-3 years. As in browse the net for mock drafts for top 5, trade away players playing well for crappy players and 2nd round picks, pull moves that DOESNT make them competitive. To get paid millions to perform BAD must be an amazing feeling.

Did you see his crib in those Grantland documentary videos? He was steps to the sand and surrounded by MILFs!
Being a 40 year old single millionaire in LA probably doesn't suck.
$10 says he starts banging an actress or singer.

I agree 100% in Noel and Okafor being studs.
I think now that Philly has stockpiled picks, they will start to acquire more talent and vets to surround Okafor and Noel with...as long as Noel and Okafor perform as expected.
The only talent they really traded away for future picks in the past 2 years was Michael Carter Williams. And his stats were inflated due to being the only guy on the roster with some talent.
Philly probably has one more year in the trash and then they start looking really dangerous.
C: Okafor
PF: Noel
F: Saric
SG: future lottery picks they have stockpiled
PG: Their own 2016 lottery pick
Then they either trade Embiid or keep him as a backup. Scary.

LukasBMW wrote:NTB wrote:Lol PHI is not scary at all.
They will be in a few years with:
-The best young post player in the league - Okafor
-A Marcus Camby clone - Noel
-The best player in Europe coming over - Saric (or whatever his name is)
-Plus whoever they trade Embiid for
-Plus whoever they draft with their stockpile of picks.
An Ewing/Camby/Ginobli core would be something to fear and I think that's not a completely unreasonable comparison.
