He's old and fat and had one win in the four years before this fight? Granted, Duffee's resume wasn't impressive.

I don't think Todd Duffee has ever beaten anyone that I've ever heard of before. So 2-1 favorite for him was too much, for sure.

Also "old and fat" literally describes the majority of the ufc hw division.

Shades of Rich/Quarry.

Also, Duffee being the favourite in anything is a joke.

JDS, Cormier, Barnett and Overeem aren't easy people to beat. Can't think of too many runs harder than that.

And he looked great against Bigfoot.

Who do you guys think the best striker in the ufc is?

I'm thinking its between Jones, McGregor, and Frank Mir.

Who ah Ferguson vs Thomson on this card! ? I'm a believer both guys are under appreciated but definitely thing Tony is the future. Would have bet on him.

Ferguson should offer to give Conor private lessons for how to fight off his back.

Wow. Josh Thomson is crazy tough. Following that kind of sustained punishment, to then fight off submissions? A lot of guys just those submissions sink so that they cant tap and GTFO (say fighters). No quit in Josh. I think everyone was inspired by Rory vs Robbie.

What the **** was Mir thinking? What kind of strategy is that? That was really wild.

Those punches were super heavy. Stiffening the shoulder so that those lefts are all lower body - the whole of that huge body.

I think its a point of pride for him to have never been submitted, although I thought that kimura was 100% on, thought we were going to have a Nog moment there.

Its so easy to forget when a guy is fighting a submission specialist that oftentimes he is a blackbelt himself and prides himself on his ground game. I remember this with Thomson before the Benson fight when someone asked him about Benson's wrestling or something, and Thomson had to remind people its not his first rodeo...then went to ride Benson's back for half that fight. I recall the same thing with Palhares/Belcher. I think it was Ariel who asked Belcher how he would finish and he just kind of casually said I might submit him, the reporter seemed surprise and Belcher was like welp I am a black belt you know.

He did the same thing with Barnett.

Barnett and Duffy ought to require totally different strategies. Really impressed that Frank is that much of an animal. Throwing such heavy punches in the pocket against a much younger, more powerful dude (a dude who is nothing but power and courage, really ).

Lefty is key.

Come to think, Thomson might be a guy I've heard totally dismiss the idea of tapping. other level of tough.
