Smoove to the Clips

Unfortunately this makes me think he signed cheap. I don't think the Clips had much cap.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Evidence that the league is getting smarter. Money everywhere, and none for Smith, because he's a net negative player.

Something Dumars didn't think to see. Nor some on this entire site.

He's still a gift that keeps giving though, with that stupid cap hit each year.

Good for the Clippers Smith is a horrible 1-3 option but a good role player especially at the min. or what ever he is signing for.

Every contract he gets, we pay him less and less. I hope it's not the vet min but I think it is.

Clippers are looking real strong. I feel as if they can compete against teams like Golden State and San Antonio with the new aquisitions of Paul Pierce, Lance Stephenson, Wesley Johnson and now Josh Smith after just losing Spencers Hawes and Matt Barnes. Watch out western conference!

Josh Smith aint that bad he just had expectations way over his head for himself and from leadership. Bench player or starter allowed to handle a little bit, iso in emergencies, and defend multiple positions. I swear I wish he was on our bench man we'd be nice!! All these talented guys have roles everybody isn't a 39 minute guy like a Jimmy Butler with value all game. Josh is more of a 26 min guy... I was really heart broken to see him cut only to be used in the proper role with another team... (just like Stuckey :( )

Btw, the Clippers are stacked. Doc Rivers and CP3's leadership has built a juggernaut OMG

CP3
Blake
Jordan
Stephenson
Smith
Pierce

Using the lineups right Doc and CP3 might get that title. Every now and then Jordan, Smith, Pierce, and Stevenson are going to have to accept lower minute games. If they respect Doc enough to do that happily the sky is the limit. OMG OMG... that might be the most badass group of 6 players I've ever seen on one team

EDIT: Mannnn idek if Doc can handle all that personality :o

LOL LAC still isn't getting past GS or SA..
P.S. Josh Smith is a net negative anymore so this move doesn't move the needle..just a meh move..
The money is the depressing part, but I'll pay to not see Josh Smith play for us ever again.

He had offers for more money.

It's evidence that he's still eating good from that buyout and wants to win (and live in so cal for a few months)

Too many chiefs, not enough Indians.

Adding Smith has only fueled my hatred of the Clippers, here's hoping they spontaneously combust!!

Eh, Smith's 14 PER isn't as bad when you consider than Enes Kanter is making more than that. Smith looked good for the Rockets and will probably look good for the Clippers. He was seriously miscast as a SF by Joe Dumars and the team's number one option on offense by SVG.

He looked solid AT TIMES for the Rockets... certainly better than he did for the Pistons... but his numbers were still ugly. High turnover rate despite less usage, 44/33/52 from the field. Defense is still the best thing he brings (on the days he decides to). Some good playoff games, certainly.

You need to be in a position to limit his minutes if he's off or playing stupid. Detroit couldn't, Houston did some of the time, and you'd think the Clippers will with all those forwards.

Well, pi$$ on that. I was hoping someone who was missing out on fa this offseason would over pay for him, some one like New York or LAL, with some extra cap space eating a hole in their pocket. Hope they start the year 5-23

My father always uses that phrase and it does fit perfectly here. Managing personalities is a coaches job but that can either be REALLY great or terrible. The great is almost an automatic title though. That group of guys working in unison might be more intimidating than the Bad Boys. If they had a pregame trash talk session before every game like they do before UFC fights they'd be 82-0 in them.

Smoove to the Clips

Post#16 » by SAKURABA216 » Thu Jul 16, 2015 11:35 pm

Clippers are stacked!

I'm pretty excited for them. I live in LA, but as a Pistons fan I've always hated the Lakers. 99.9% of the Lakers fans hate the Clippers and think of them as their "little brothers."

Needless to say as a Laker-hater and the youngest of 5 brothers, I've always had a soft spot for the Clippers. An ex-gf of mine also had season tix so I've been to a few of their games too. Most importantly, I really just want to see CP3 win a ring. The guy is amazing and wants to win more than anyone and gets a ton of hate every year they get bounced in the 2nd round.

I can't wait for 2k to come out now, I honestly wasn't going to buy the game if all I had to look forward to was playing as Marcus Morris, Stanley Johnson, and whoever else we just acquired. It sucks playing w/ a crap team, you gotta put the sliders all the way up lol

It really drives home just how low the perception of Smith is at this point that he couldn't even get a halfway decent deal in this climate, and had to wait in line after some pretty minor players to get any deal at all.

He allegedly turned down better offers to accept the Clips 2.5 million because he wanted to contend.

Too bad for the team he wants "to help" contend.

He can win and lose you games, more often than not it's lose.
