Pistons were actually winning games with Jennings at least.

Knicks, Jazz and Rockets make the most sense.

DetroitPistons wrote:The only logical reason I can think for the Pistons showing interest is to buy low and sell high after he regains value throughout the season. They already have Jackson with Jennings coming off the bench and also just traded for Steve Blake to compete for the 3rd string PG spot with Spencer Dinwiddie. I can't possible see why they would want him for basketball reasons.
Jennings may not even play next year so you cant say they already have Jackson and Jennings. All they have for sure is Jackson, Blake, and Dinwiddie, and Lawson would be a huge upgrade over both current backups.
It actually makes a lot of sense to me. This might be their best opportunity to trade Jennings and all that uncertainty he has clouding over the team. Yes Lawson would bring as much uncertainty off the court with his recent legal troubles, but at least you know he can play.
Talent and production wise its about even. So you basically get the 6th man you may or may not get from Jennings, in Lawson guaranteed to start the season instead. Assuming he doesnt get suspended or anything, but even then it would probably only be a few games, which is way less than the few months they likely have to wait on Jennings now. Plus Jennings contracts ends after this year, so this is a chance to get a little more longterm security from that 6th man role.
For DEN, in their minds anything they can get right now for Lawson is better than having him on their roster. So they are one of the few teams that probably dont care if they have to wait a little while on Jennings. To them, Jennings uncertainty is probably more attractive than having Lawson on the team to start the season. Plus they got Mudiay who they want to get most of the minutes to start the year anyway to develop, so they can afford to wait for Jennings. And even if he never plays for them it just becomes a salary dump way to move Lawson.
Also there is connection there with Brendan and Mike Malone that could help facilitate it. I like this idea a lot for the Pistons. They arent getting anyone more talented than Lawson for Jennings until he shows he can at least play. Which may or may not happen. Rather than him potential walking for nothing, at least get something while you can.

The Kings have never and won't express interest in Lawson...writer seemingly drawing conclusions to his old playing days with Karl. Article is false on Kings behalf

What does his contract look like, iam really not up to date on it.If the pistons were able to get him and his contract is for the season ,he will probably bolt to a team that he can start at.He is still a player that can start on pretty much any team, wouldnt suprise me if gundy traded jennings-morris-2nd for him and then turned around and traded lawson for another sf (but a better one then was given up),stan seems to love flipping garbage for production lol.One can dream.

Maybe/maybe not, but fact is that both Detroit and the Kings right now basically have 2 starting caliber PGs on their rosters (Jennings/Jackson, Rondo/Collison) as is. Now this "report" "per league sources" and all the other nonsense which often means "I'm recycling old rumors and making stuff up" comes out suggesting those teams want to go trade for a third PG?
With Russel not looking ready I could see the Lakers doing it in their desperate quest to somehow put together a remain relevant roster. And Houston is the truly logical place, as long as Harden doesn't try to wrestle him for the ball.

I would think they might want to keep the extreme character questions away from their kids.

He has 2 yrs left so he would be our 6th man for the next 2 seasons.

You are assuming Jennings is active but he will be a DNP for the first few months at least, so they really only have one starting PG and could use an upgrade over Blake leading the second unit.
I dont really understand it for HOU, LAL, or SAC but it does make sense for the Pistons because of Jennings uncertainty and him being an exp contract close in value to Lawsons.
Lakers dont have the contracts to match salary even if they wanted, and after using the 2nd pick on a PG, bringing in an alcoholic malcontent at the same position to be his mentor doesnt seem wise lol. HOU doesnt have the contracts to trade either unless they decide to use Ariza and start Brewer instead. But DEN just extended Chandler and probably doesnt want another SF on three year deal. Same goes for the Kings who only have Gays contract to offer. An exp contract like Jennings would seem most attractive to DEN and Pistons are the only of the four that can offer it.

Pistons can only offer expirings of Jennings/Granger and Colorado's Spencer Dinwiddie.

I don't think that's close to his value post-crash. He's productive, efficient, a proven playoff performer. Can run your offense entirely or can be effective splitting with another dominant guy (the lower his usage is, the higher his %s have been in general). He's also 27 and has two years at $25m left.
Capela is decent, and I get that Lawson's value has taken a hit, but Lawson's much much better than people are giving him credit for.

Knicks make no sense for the Nuggets, they have nothing to trade and the Nuggets can swap their pick with them next year so no reason to make them better.
I do not see the Jazz wanting someone like Lawson with his rep right now, Utah is a very conservative area, and I do not see the fans loving the idea of adding a guy with Lawson's issues right now.
