Most I have talked to lately are disappointed in him, and hoping that he figures things out. Say what you will but the guy has been a warrior on the court for the Nuggets, and it is very sad to see someone screwing up their life and putting other people's lives at risk, who you have cheered for over the years. 2 DUIs in 6 months in indicative of a big problem in his life, and regardless of whether he is with the Nuggets or somewhere else, I hope he gets his life back in order and soon before someone gets hurt.

I said it after the hookah incident - he clearly was clearly battling pretty major demons, as that was incredibly self-destructive with zero upside.

Can we please stop dusting DUIs under the rug like they're a speeding offense? He's putting everybody on the road at risk when he does it, so yeah, it actually is the concern of other people. It's a big deal, and points to a guy with next-to-no self control.

If you bothered reading most of the posts, that majority of people here are rooting for the guy. I'd love for him to clean up and bounce back on the court and in life, even if it's not in Denver. Sports is a pretty small thing in the grand scheme of things.

He's in a completely selfish state of mind right now (as addicts are), and that's not going to do anything positive for the org. I hope they can help however they can to get him help, but they need to move on from a basketball perspective.

Why do we keep judging people because of some news story and buy into the crap that becauase a guy likes to drink he can't play basketball? I realize you're probably 13, so it may not be relevant yet, but you understand that virtually everybody's job has the right to fire them over a DUI, right? Like... everybody's. Ty Lawson actually gets that money regardless of the DUIs, since he has a contract. He's not getting anything stolen. You're stealing brain cells from everybody who has to read your posts, though.

Why did you put quotes around cop, by the way? Does part of you think it was maybe just a stripper in a cop costumer playing a prank on him?

Lol "some cop thought you had too many" I would love to see that defense hold up in court. Mr.Gametime eventually you'll grow up and get a job. Once you do, you'll realize DUIs are taken very serious in the grown up world. Just about any job has the right to exterminate you for just one DUI, Ty has two, in six months. I can't think of another athlete right now or recently who has two DUIs in six months. The guy has a problem and hopefully this treatment center will help him.

Let's hear that same attitude after some drunk driver kills one of your loved ones...if you have anyone special, you sound a bit heartless or at minimal lacking moral responsibility.

So, who stole millions from him ?? who banned him from his job ??? And you do realize that drunk driving IS against the law, right ??

Lawson, 29, was in court on Friday for the first incident, which took place in January in Denver. The judge ruled that he would face his charges after completion of the treatment program. Lawson is scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 20.

"When any of our guys have an issue, we all have an issue," Connelly said, adding that he didn't want to say much about Lawson's problem. "We're going to stand firmly behind him."

While it may all be lip service at this time, it appears that the Nuggets are at least working with Ty to get him help. If we are honest Ty needs a lot of help right now.

I really hope you are 12 and not yet an adult, as you obviously have never lost someone to a drunk driver, I would guess you never stood outside of a hospital surgery center as your girlfriend had to have emergency surgery due to being hit by a drunk driver, nor have you had to see a friend destroyed by they guilt of having had what some cop thought was one too many and having severely hurt his brother and another family in a wreck. When you see that it opens your eyes to just how dangerous it really is.

One DUI is bad enough, many of my friends have had 1, and I was lucky I never hurt anyone and never got caught when I was young and dumb, but you can learn from 1 and come back from that being responsible and handling it like an adult, learn the lesson and move on. However 2 or even possibly 3 is some that that shows a big issue, especially when you get 2 in 6 months, Ty needs help, and he needs to grow the **** up, as do you.

Right now our local media is running a bunch of stories about how everyone in Oregon is going to die from earthquakes and tsunamis. Some of my coworkers were freaked out yesterday. I told them, don't worry about those things, worry about drunk drivers. Sad but true, if you die young it will probably be because of a drunk driver.

On Friday morning, Nuggets guard Ty Lawson was ordered into mandatory alcohol rehab by a Denver judge. On Friday night Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly said the organization is standing behind the embattled guard.

"I was just talking to Ty earlier," Connelly said after the Nuggets' finale summer league game. "Ty's going through a rough time right now and we're all behind him. Ty's a really good person. He's a Nugget.

“So when one of our guys goes through some issues we support him as a family, and we're going to stand behind him. I don't want to comment too much on what's going on in his personal life, but when any of our guys has an issue we all have an issue. And we want to stand firmly behind him."
