What big market contender has two top 10 picks, young prospects, and expirings?

Better yet, if they are contenders with all that, why trade it for Melo?

Good point. I can see Phil watching Denver tapes and getting some of this off-season's ideas from that. Max catting is not superior to a balanced roster. Better defense and upping the tempo seem to have been harped upon going into SL, i.e. more fast breaks and easier looks. Benefits everyone, including Melo.

Exactly. This is the problem with trading him because he has control over where he goes and we'd get f*cked in the deal
WTF Post of 2017:

If Phil pulled that off, I would put a put a paper bag over my head, paste a picture of Jeannie on it, poke a hole through the mouth, and give Phil the best BJ he's ever had in his entire life.[/quote]

Yes and that is why is probably better that Melo stay and play well on a rapidly improving team. He may actually have a better shot during his contract of contending than jumping around now anyway. As long as he allows young guns to assume leadership roles and he gets along with everyone, there is no good reason to trade him now since the odds of us getting any kind of usable assets is probably low. If there was a killer deal offered, you listen, but it is highly unlikely unless Melo absolutely kills it next season and looks healthier post-surgery. I expect Melo to play out his contract here, thus I want him to do well regardless of my prior opinion of him.

So if this big market contender trades assets to another team to get two top 10 picks and young prospects, how is it possible that they are still contenders after?

I think they did that in the 2nd half of the season...and it wasn't pretty.

What's your problem? You're going to make dirtbag posts like this and expect anybody to give a crap about what you have to say when its your turn to post your essays on Melo critics?

Anyway, you laughing about the idea of Phil reviewing what worked with Melo in the past just shows how close-minded you really are. The joke's on you.

You're right. If you're going to gut your team it is more likely to happen for a player in their prime. A deal for Melo now does not = deal for Melo in 2010. I don't see us getting a haul of 1st round draft picks.

If he waives his NTC its on and popping. But even like Phill said it really doesn't matter IF he did trade him it would be to a team he wants to go to anyway out of respect.

Melo is not getting traded, everyone is aware of the cap and FA situation next year and are willing to play it out to see what happens. Let's move on from this trade melo talk.

If Melo waives his NTC its because there's a deal that benefits him 1st, his new team 2nd and the Knicks 3rd. He might as well stay put, we aren't that far from contending in the East.

we did, then most started realizing that catering to 1 player isnt how you run a team.

That's my sentiment, 1 player doesnt make the team. Mello is a "Me first player and he's not a team guy. We should trade him now!

Melo will not waive it without discrimination. He will only waive it for a big market contender. He didn't do all this to end up in Charlotte.

Really. Obviously you haven't been getting the vibe around MSG. The New York Knicks are about team ball, either you're in or out. Tex Winter redesigned the Triangle as may knwo and Jackson has applied it to win repeatedly.

So now, for whatever reason in your universe, Jackson and his team are studying Denver's playbook. The same Nuggets that almost won in the ABA league only to get beaten by a Dr. J lead New York Nets team.

Before I dismiss the class. Question, who gave you inside info that we're mimicking the Denver Nuggets?
