Nah. This is PJ's last as a Sun if he's not traded by mid season. He can be cut for $1.5M next Summer.

Big Al is an all around awesome guy. I went to school with him (okay, we went to the same school at the same time haha) and worked with him for a quarter (IM basketball official). He's seriously the nicest guy you'll meet. No attitude about being the big man on campus. Easily our best player since Orlando Johnson.

I am very excited to see him doing so well in the summer league. The coach at UCSB was an idiot and rarely fed Al the ball on the low post (so frustrating). But man, when he got going, Al could score against anybody in the post. When we would give him the ball, the game was in our control almost immediately. However, there are a few reasons he went undrafted. First, he's super small. 6'8" and really only has the skill set to play in the post (and score against guys around his same size). Second, he's just not that athletic. I probably saw him dunk twice during my years at UCSB (and saw him miss too many fast break layups). He's not too fast and struggles on the defensive end. But what he doesn't lack is effort. This guy goes all out every game. That's why his rebounding numbers are so high.

I would have loved the Suns to take a chance on him (he was born and went to high school in Phoenix). Literally the opposite of Keiff's attitude. He appreciates every opportunity he has and is an absolute gentleman.

I can't imagine him putting up those kinds of numbers in an actual NBA game where he has to face athletic big men who can shoot the three and drive, but I wish him the best!

(Okay, sorry I just had to get that out there haha)

PJ would need to be really terrible this season to get cut next summer. With the cap rising his contract will look like a bargain even as a 9th man type. At the very least the suns would be able to net a minor asset in a trade next summer if they don't want him anymore.

I was just pointing out a question that came up when discussing Warren. Of course I want to maximize his abilities, they just seem to be limited to offense. One of our young guys should be a complete stud in the SL, as should any guy hoping to crack an NBA rotational spot. While both Warren and Goodwin have put up points, they have been weak in other areas of the game. Our guys take too long to get going too, which for is a bit worrisome, because they will most likely come off the bench.

Len has been ok. I was hoping he would have been more dominant in the SL. We've almost had better games out of the fringe possible players, like Harrellson.

I think he would be better used coming off the bench in a scoring spark role. With PJ in the starting spot we have good to great defenders at 1,3,&5, with decent to ok defenders at the 2&4. I do like how he cuts, and as long as guys find him like last year, I think will add to the team quite well.

This is a tangential point but I think Warren's off the ball abilities really stand out because Horney has abandoned the principles of a Princeton offense with directives and runs some ISO ball stopping/ warped version of a Dribble drive motion offense which doesn't rely on designated playsets but instead on read and react split second decision making on the part of the PG which tries to make defenses collapse around the penetrating ballhandler driving from the top of the key to get kickouts. So the way our personnel is utilized we usually operate on a 2 guard front and 4 out (Mirza will be the stetch 4, Tucker will camp out in the corner pocket, Chandler will be asked to occasionally post up and be involved in the PnR /catching lobs while the SG is at the perimeter).

Now it makes sense why we love Kentucky guards consider Calipari runs the more purer version of this. However inadequate spacing causes Bled to force bad passes in to single gaps contributing to many of his errant turnovers and this is where having a cutter like Warren greatly helps especially if he develops some 3pt range when he is denied of the ball on the baseline by a helping weakside wing defender. Right now he is underutilized but since he doesn't need designated plays and is a proficient low maintenance scorer he should ease into having a bigger role in this offense

That's exactly my point. Because he can be cut to save some money we might be able to pick up an asset for him. I don't think he'll be sticking around as a player though. Not unless he is a model citizen and plays out of his mind next year. Otherwise we'll be rolling with Warren at SF and likely a future draft choice at backup SF.

Kelly Oubre is such a beast. Definitely the surprise of Summer League.

Yup I was hoping for him to be our pick but thats probably because I have a mancrush on him. But I was worried after hearing greports about his low BBIQ that he would turn into another unfulfilled wing talent/uberathletic sideshow knucklehead like GGreen who would later develop a chucking habit. He has tremondous defensive potential a developing 3pt shot he reworked to go along with an already reliable jumper but is still more of a slasher. Still needs to work on his handle , grow into his frame and get a feel for the game

T.J. Warren leads the Suns (3-1) with 20.3 points per game and 57 percent shooting.

Archie Goodwin is averaging 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals.

First-round pick Devin Booker is averaging 13.3 points. He went from missing all eight 3-point shot attempts in the first two games to going 6 for 10 on 3s in the past two games.

The Suns are undefeated in Alex Len’s three games. He averaged 12.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in only 24.7 minutes per game.

Chicago (3-2) has been led by Doug McDermott, who has averaged 18.8 points despite 2-for-16 3-point shooting. First-round pick Bobby Portis has averaged 12.4 points and 7.6 rebounds with 56 percent shooting for the Bulls, who also have former Suns guard Diante Garrett.

What do you mean the great Bobby Portis is only averaging 12.4 points and 7 rebs a game? I mean, I mean he looked like a future HOF in his first SL game and made some of us Suns' fans attack our FO for not drafting him ahead of Booker!!

We should be able to beat this Bulls team without McDermott and Bairstow.
