Despite the stoppage, the Pacers are still expected to sign Ellis, but the team must reorder its transactions in order to fit him under the salary cap.
Once the cap has been cleared, Ellis is expected to sign a four-year, $44 million contract with an opt-out after three seasons.
How did this happen? Does this mean that they have to restructure or release someone?
Just saw this. David West just officially signed with the Spurs on Friday. I would damn near assume that we didn't renounce him and just assumed that he had already signed with the Spurs, which immediately would have cleared his cap hold. Until he was either renounced or signed a new contract elsewhere, he counted a huge amount against our cap.
