Polling each fan forum to get their take on the upcoming season.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Absolutely impossible to make a prediction right now, with the whole roster in flux.

Well, we won 40 last year, and that was with a rag-tag fleet.

Consistent from the beginning of the season, and we should just about make 50. -- I'm saying a 20% improvement. = 48.

Smart has to take a leap and Rozier, hunter, or young need to have impact to equal last year's overachieving. Green tinted lens wearers think our young players will progress while every other teams' stand still.

Voted 45-49. We won 40 last year despite being an outright bad team half the year with Rondo and Green. Our strength was depth, and so far it looks like we got deeper while returning the same personnel. Its a good formula for the regular season if nothing else.

Voted 45-49, think the floor is 38 and ceiling 52. solid players, deep bench, good coach, just lacking a "star".

I voted 45-49 as well. The Celtics won't surprise many teams but having a deep team is a recipe for doing well during the regular season. This is one of the deepest Celtics team since I have been a fan(79-80). If NBA titles were decided based upon the strength of the team 7-12, the Celtics would be a serious contender. The first 3 bigs off the bench could be Sullinger, KO and Zeller.

Overlysimplistic logic - BOS will be a winning team because their depth and defense is designed to maximize regular season wins. Most teams pace themselves at some point between games 30-60, simply go through the motions and try and turn it on in the 4th.

Stevens just inherited superior defense and offense with Johnson/Lee acquisitions alone - young olayer development has little to do with it.

They are an above .500 with almost EVERY player being a young, developing player - most teams don't have 7 players in their rotation under 25.

They are simply built for playing a full 48 minutes of regular season basketball.

Number of over the hill rotation players from last year = 0.

Not the case for a lot of teams. Most other EC playoff teams have declining guys somewhere. Wade, Gortat/Nene, Noah/Gasol, Korver, etc.,even LeBron probably has a finals hangover from all of those minutes. Not sure why you are ignoring the plain fact that they are indeed younger than most clubs.

That said I don't think they take people by surprise this year compared to last. I'd say 43-44 wins is a healthy ambition.

Adding Lee and Amir to the team in place of Wallace and Bass, should be a huge improvement. I say 45-49, barring any injuries, maybe jsut maybe they can go for 50 wins. If we add a Gallinari to balance the roster, I say we win 50 with no injuries, if not more.
Good assessment:
