Holmgren gave the best speech of the night, but Favre was very good, too. I especially liked the amount of time he spent on folks behind the scenes. That was awesome.

He mentioned everybody on down to the janitors...but never mentioned Ted Thompson. Typical Favre.

He seemed to really focus on the locals this time. I expect the Pro Football HOF speech will focus on more of those people we actually know. Maybe not focus on them but he has said some kind things about Ted recently so I don't think him not mentioning him tonight was an intentional slight. Especially considering he mentioned McCarthy and the more we hear about the summer of '08, it seems like he was the strongest voice against bringing Brett back.

Considering his clear purpose to talk about the unknowns tonight - I thought it was great.

That wasn't the point of the night 2008 off season, even though lance allen wanted to bring up as many times as he could.

I just was amazed at Favre reeling off all those names and with each he had a story. You could almost see as each minute of his speech went by he started to reconnect himself with the Packers organization.

I was surprised they did not let Mike Sherman speak for even just a minute or two. Or maybe Sherman didn't want to speak. Sherman and Favre were together only one year less than Favre/Holmgren. And those were damn interesting years albeit not quite as successful.

Sherman would've been a much better option than Stars son, who didn't really add much and was pretty awful speaker.

All week he's been saying it was TT who helped the healing and been a his supporter after the split with TT sending nice text messages during the dark days.

He did mention him in passing, but the reality is that Favre only spent a couple years with Ted (and at least one of those offseasons was really acrimonious), so I'm not going to hold it against him. Wolf and Holmgren will always be the men who helped shape Favre as a Packer.

He spent some time talking about Ted in his radio interview last week, and it's clear they've at least begun the process of patching things up.

I don't think that's a big deal. How many current Packers even played with Brett Favre? Rodgers is one of the oldest tenured Packers and he was obviously around only the last couple years during Favre's 16 years. Maybe Kuhn played with Favre? Who else?

I think this was more about the PAST, although I did see TT there (again who was there pretty much the end of Favre's 16 years).


I think Favre's QB coaches were there and the heart of those 90's superbowl teams. Mooch, Holmgren, Ron Wolf, those guys made Brett Favre. Favre was there surrounded by his peers/teammates. I only saw highlights of the event but saw some faces from the past, the older guys. I think this was about them. Those 90's guys who turned Green Bay from a doldrums franchise into a contender. That was the theme, even though it was only 1 Superbowl win, they resurrected the franchise and helped make it what it is today. They are celebrating that turn around. BTW I did see Driver there, so he was one of the players that was POST superbowl era but still not a current player. That resurrection those players experienced is different compared to the Packers of today, I just think this was for a different audience.

If they were retiring Nitchke's number and Clay Mathews didn't show up, I wouldn't have a problem with it. If they were retiring Charles Woodson's number next weekend and none of Sam Shields/Casey Hawyard/Haha Dix all didn't show up, I wouldn't think anything of it.

The American Century Championship is huge, every year at Edgewood in Tahoe.

Yeah, Rodgers does that tournament every year. Plus, I think it would've taken away from Favre's spotlight a bit if he was there.
