Warren shouldn't be playing in this game due to his injury. He won't complain though. Zero hustle. Not like him. James deserves to be on an NBA team.

Yup if he can't impress on the offensive end he might be a total pushover with Chandler in front of him as a proven elite rim protector for at least two years. If he hasn't unquestionably cemented a starting job by his 5th year in the league its over

its hard to judge players by their summer league performance.

As I mentioned before, Summer league, there are rarely any structure and playing with non-NBA players competing for contracts can affect your numbers and role.

Mike James as an example is auditioning for a camp invite.

Len, rarely gets the ball fed down on him. And when it is, he is in traffic or guarded. But he rarely gets the chance to go one on one.

This is why i dont get all the excitement about Warren. I get that hes a good offensive mind, and he moves well and all that, but at the end of the day he's just a scorer who cant shoot threes. He has plenty of improving to do to warrant all the hype.

Well not a surprise we lost to the Spurs. I would take solace in the fact it doesn't matter, but I hate to know some of these guys' first memories as Suns were losing to the Spurs in the finals.

I'm not sure why we went with Mikey, James, and McNeal for long this game. We should have tried the opposite, and run a Len Harrellson front court. Oh well, pretty crappy play by guys I thought would fight hard for the win. Very little heart.

Len has had plenty of double doubles and 4+ block games against NBA big men.
Goodwin has scored 15+ points a lot of times when he gets minutes and has shown he can keep up with many NBA players.
Warren has had good scoring games too against NBA caliber players.

Those are the facts.

Summer league is not the barometer to judge a player.
You can only use it to see if the players have worked on their weaknesses and are trying to "practice" it in game.

This. Coach dropped the ball on this. Our guys came in too late, cold. And lots of ugly unforced turnovers by James and Warren.

It's a shooters league ... especially in the summer league. Dominate offensive play from the center position is such a rarity. Last season there were two centers who were in the top 20 in scoring ... Cousins and Vucevic ... both on losing teams Sac and Orl. Len's job is to rebound and defend and set picks.

I don't think the hype is unwarranted at all, he didn't look comfortable at all today after barely playing yesterday due to his hamstring issue. All in all he looked like a man among boys through the Summer League and a guy that I think will be a valuable contributor for the Suns throughout this season and a starter sooner rather than later.

He can work on his 3. If he can draw his defender out to the 3 pt line and be reasonable there, even if he moves in to score a 2, it will be ok, if he can hit at like 56% from 2, which would equate to a little over 37% from 3. He might be a nice mismatch though IF we have a pure stretch 4 because so many team defenses now are trained to only defend the 3 pt line and the rim, so he could have free reign in his area, and teams may have to make major adjustments because of him because his mid range game is so good. I mean, in this day and age, who has a better mid range game? You would have maybe said Aldridge, and then some might say Kobe or Wade, but I don't even think they hit at as high of a rate likely due to more focus from defense...but he could become our type of player like those guys to need double teams in the mid range area to leave guys open under the basket or at the 3. You never know.

Idk what it is but I feel like the Suns play the Spurs every single damn time they are in a playoff situation. Played them in 2000, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010 (the last time the Suns made the playoffs), and now in the summer league finals. Seriously what the hell were the chances that the Suns would face the Spurs in the finals out of 24 total teams. First they lose Aldridge to the Spurs, now they lose the Summer League Championship when I believe the Suns should have dominated it.

The three main players on the Suns all had NBA experience and I had never even heard of the players on the Spurs team. That was an absolutely pathetic performance by the Suns. No heart besides Mike James. Len, Goodwin, and Warren played selfishly, stupidly, and with barely any effort on defense. That was a horrendous defensive showing by those three young players. It was like they did not care. That actually felt like the same type of game the Suns have versus the Spurs in the regular season. Dominated defensively by the Spurs with tons of turnovers, fouls, and offensive rebounds given up by the Suns. Even though the Spurs are a great organization, I loathe them, and I despise losing to the them at any level.

We had three players who started for us last year playing in the summer league. They have a lot to learn. Anderson was the only guy on the Spurs to start a game last year?

Booker went 2/3 from three, I'm not sure why we didn't try to get him open more. I understand some guys were trying to get noticed,but man win the f*cking game! I'm glad we cut McNeal. Give James and Harrellson a camp invite and get guys in the gym.

5 years of missing out the playoffs and we don't even have a recognizable core to show for despite all the praise for our youth

I do too and i hope he takes over PJ midseason (who was snacking it up courtside). But this is not only a summer league observation. Coming into the league the one thing he has is elite finishing and efficiency. Right now, thats just still all he has given a year of playing time. Hopefully its just a case of not trying to do too much and trying to win, thats why he stuck and showed us what he knows. Dont get me wrong im not ripping on Warren, im just cautiously optimistic.

Id still take Len over Noel IMO. Big guys dont dominate summer league unless they have great moves like Okafor and Towns. Im just happy hes healthy and getting them boards. And hes not gonna get any looks with all the shooters around him.

Meh, its Summer League, like people get all wrapped up in it but in the end it doesn't mean a whole lot other than for the guys fighting to have a job in the NBA.

The Spurs in terms of their defensive alignments and offense playsets seemed a lot better coached, they had more fringe guys that were doing all they could to make one last good impression. Meanwhile Warren, Len, Booker and Goodwin are in no danger of not making the roster. Looking back on the Summer League as a whole, I liked that Warren has shown improvement, that Booker looked far better prepared and ready to play than you might expect from an 18 year old, that James could very well wind up in camp with the team, excited for training camp.

Of the Summer league guys, who would you most like to see make our team?
