Well he's a year and a half older than MKG and a year older than Frank (who himself was obviously a late bloomer), so not sure why they makes sense in this comparison.

I'd agree that his potential for improvement is about the same as Cody's. Do you expect significant improvement from Cody?

Heh, I'd rank Cody's potential second to MKG on that list. Point remains though.

Apples' point isn't so much that Lamb can't improve, it's that Lamb has played below his contract value which makes it unlikely he'll be able to recapture the lost value with only a year left on his contract.

Fortunately OKC shouldered most of the "loss," and Charlotte can at least reap the rewards of a young soon-to-be-RFA SG in a contract year.

The Hornets did great with Cody. That was an awful draft year. Imo Cho has done great in recent years by getting Cody, MKG, Frank, and Batum where 2 of those drafts were really shaky.

I don't see how Lamb has under-performed and that's the issue in my debate on this topic. I've liked what I've seen from Lamb when he's received playing time, and that's the only hindrance in my perception of him at this point

That's kinda the issue here. Teams generally expect lottery picks to earn playing time.

I hope he does well with Hornets. Great chance to show everyone including OKC they made a mistake giving up on him for a second. Hornets are just begging him to take the third wing job. If he does (I expect him to) there is a chance to even play him, Batum, and MKG together. Where the league is going three long wings can wreak havoc and teams pay a premium for them. I think that's the idea.

That's kind of the reason why Thunder fans disagreed with the players Brooks played over Lamb as well too, huh? That's kind of the reason why advanced statistics would indicate that Lamb was better than Waiters too, huh? But that didn't stop Brooks from playing who he wanted

Same here, and he is a bargain opportunity buy for a essentially a second round pick. Our 2nd rounders are always garbage too. He still has real upside, but he will need to begin incorporating discipline in his development. Consistency is the key for Lamb.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Thing is, Lamb almost couldn't of devised a better path for himself. For whatever reason, no other club offered more than what Charlotte did but Lamb gets paid regardless and is out of a situation where he was buried. So he comes to Charlotte who *needs* help at the wing. A team with no shooting last year is just begging him to take 25 minutes a game. And sharing minutes at the wing with 2 quintessential teammates who are expected to take the toughest defensive assignments - one of which doesn't shoot and the other and elite ball mover.

Jeez Lamb won the lottery.

Cool snark bro. You UConn kids are too damn defensive. I like Lamb, hell I wanted to trade down to 6-10 and draft him. Hopefully you're right and Brooks held him back, just saying he hasn't earned his keep just yet.

I certainly hope he's better than Waiters.

Lamb gonna take somebody spot. That's my bold prediction. I just hope it's not MKG or me and Cliff gonna be going at it all year as Batum get smoked on defense without scoring much in return.

Maybe, maybe Lin's spot. Hes not going to start or play over MKG or Batum.

I think hes firmly entrenched as a 7 to 8 man, which isn't that bad.

Considering we got him for crumbs its a win win situation for us. There is no doubt he has potential and can easily be one of the best moves this team has made in a long time considering how little they gave up for him.

OKC prefers to send players they like that don't work out for them to good situations. It's one of the reasons why Presti (foolishly) traded Harden to an in-conference rival. It definitely worked out well for both us and Lamb though so I'm not complaining. Hopefully the loyalty they show their guys will pay off for them when it comes time for Durant to make a decision, especially if Washington is the other potential destination.

If Durant stays in the West with AD it will make going East a lot more appealing to Curry two years from now.
