Well, the top 3 might be good, or at least the top 2 with Simmons and Labissiere, but I don't know that 4-12 would have been that great, so losing that Lakers pick isn't that big of a deal. It appears this draft will likely be worse than the Len draft, according to what I've read.

He delayed his elegibility. He's in the 2016 recruiting class right now.

What is everyones thoughts on simmons?. Is he a lock for a top spot or is there a good chance hes stock drops during the season. Im interested right now cuz in Australia thers a betting special paying 4 to 1 for anyone else being picked first. Im tempted to put the house on it. Mainly cuz its so early n i personally think he isnt mentally ther. Kid talks in an american accent (by choice) n picking shaqs uni reeks of wanting the spotlight n not working hard to improve. Anyone disagree? Feel he is the next kyrie irving?.

There is definitely a chance he doesn't go first. Many have Skal Labisserie #1. Heck, this Fischella guy has Dragan Bender going one (but of course he also thought Zoran Dragic would be better than TJ Warren).

But during the college season any guy's stock could rise. Oladipo wasn't even a consensus first rounder before that college season and he ended up probably being the guy who should have went first.

I like Simmons' situation though. He didn't go to the popular schools. He went to LSU...if he does big things with them, he will have a very good chance of going #1. I'd say it is between a 50-70% chance he goes #1 right now, so those 4-1 odds on the field look good. It's likely a losing bet, but with the odds it's worth it as long as you don't bet more than you are willing to lose.

All of them drafted in the top 10. This shows that smart management is more valuable than high pick.
When we drafted Booker I was afraid he will be terrible like Fredette. Thankfully he is not a guy who can't do anything other than shoot. Love his energy. I totally trust McD at least in draft.

Just saw Bill Simmons tweeting about Ben Simmons and the Nets record.

The Celtics get an unprotected pick from Brooklyn this year. They also get a top 7 protected pick from Dallas and a top 12 protected pick from Minnesota, as well as 4 second rounders coming to them. This isn't even counting their own picks. They do send two second rounders out but they could have as many as 4 lottery picks. It is unlikely they get the Minnesota pick (I guess this was our pick we sent to them) but they will probably get 3 picks in the top 15 or so.

1. Dragan Bender
Croatia
Age: 19
6-foot-11, 211 lbs

Bender has been on the NBA radar for a while, but got a significant bump in his draft stock a few weeks ago when his Maccabi Tel Aviv team played two exhibition games against Milano in Chicago and New York. Bender was terrific in both games while matched up against Allesandro Gentile, a player who's likely to be in the NBA next year.

His versatility is a big plus. While his offensive game is still rounding out (as is his body), he can play the 3, 4 and 5 on offense -- much like Porzingis in the Liga ACB last year. Bender's 3-point shot is improving and he shows terrific athleticism. What's not to like?

"I think the biggest takeaway from those two games was that Bender is going to get significant playing time for Maccabi," one GM said. "That's huge. If he can play big minutes in the Euroleague and make the impact that we saw him make early, he's got a shot at the No. 1 pick.

"He's a skilled 7-footer that can score from anywhere and defend three positions. Those guys don't come along very often.

"I'd probably put Ben Simmons and Skal Labissiere in front of him. Maybe Brandon Ingram too. But if he has a big year in Europe, I might be inclined to go with Bender. Especially if Porzingis ends up having a big year in New York."

2. Henry Ellenson
Marquette
Freshman
6-10, 228 lbs

Ellenson broke his hand in March, robbing him of the opportunity to show off his game to scouts at the McDonald's All American Game and the Nike Hoop Summit. Otherwise he would be more front of mind in NBA circles.

He's the rare big man with such a complete offensive package: great athletic ability, the strength to dominate in the post, the shooting ability to stretch the floor and terrific ballhandling skills. He dominated in a four-game trip to Italy for Marquette in August, averaging 21 points and 7.5 rebounds. In other words, he can be an instant impact player.

Concerns about his defense abound. And there were conditioning questions until he slimmed down during the past year to a svelte 228. Overall, he's the closest thing we've seen to Kevin Love since Love.

"He's the most underrated kid in this draft class," one NBA scout said. "His game and his body have improved so much the past year. Offensively, there isn't anything this kid can't do.

"He's a bit of a defensive liability right now, but there's no reason he has to be. He's got great mobility and long arms. He just needs to learn how to play on that end, too. I think he'll pick it up on that end with time. I wouldn't be surprised if you have him in your top five in June."

3. Cheick Diallo
Kansas
Freshman
6-9, 220 lbs

Diallo is still waiting to hear whether he'll be cleared by the NCAA to play for Kansas. If he is, he'll be an immediate impact player, especially on the defensive end.

There isn't a player who plays with more energy or toughness than Diallo. He uses his elite athleticism, long arms and speed to protect the rim and harass players on the perimeter.

On offense, he's unpolished. He's been playing basketball for only five years and his game is still coming along. But scouts who watched him closely this spring all say the same thing -- his game is developing rapidly on that end, too.

"He's my favorite player in the draft," one GM said. "I'm not saying he's the best player. Just my favorite. I love guys that go [all] out on both ends for 48 minutes. They guy just doesn't stop. Bill Self is going to love him. He's going to have a major impact at Kansas on both ends.

"And I think if his offense ever catches up to his defense he could be a star. He's got the physical tools and the work ethic and the right demeanor to be one. I love him."

I was surprised to not see Alonzo Trier in the box score for most of the first half. He was getting the Booker treatment I guess. I was also a little surprised Parker Jackson-Cartwight, but then I had forgotten that Kadeem Allen was Juco player of the year two years ago and practiced with the team all of last year. It's nice that even though we lost a bunch of guys, we got Ryan Anderson who I expect to be solid (his numbers for Boston College were great in the two years he played 14/7 or 8 boards), and then getting Kaleb back, and York is the vet senior.

Then Alonzo is supposed to have the most raw talent.

Zo's really good, saw him at the Red and Blue game, but he wasn't like Stanimal or Aaron Gordon were in their Red and Blue debuts. I don't think he'll be a 1-and-done like Stan and Gordon, which is why I think Miller is bringing him off the bench. Gabe's looked good, so has Kadeem. They're a good duo, and I think Parker and Zo are a good duo as well. We're a really deep team this year. Pitts is in street clothes tonight and he should figure into the rotation on the wing.

I think we need to take a power forward that can finish in traffic. I dont think there are going to. E many like that available where we're projected though..

How about Damian Jones from Vanderbilt, projected to go 16 on DX, but 7 on .net. Here is what it says about him on DX

Keep an eye on Diamond Stone from Maryland.

I see him as having a Cousins type of game in the league (minus the headaches). He was a 5 star recruit with plenty of offers to choose from, but decided on Maryland because of what they were able to do to Len.

"All these schools have great trainers, great training facilities," Robert Stone said in a telephone interview. "Maryland showed what they did to get Alex where he was and what he became. It was visual to him, it wasn't a coach or a strength and conditioning coach telling him. They showed us actual workouts with Alex. I think that stuck with him and the intensity of the workouts. To me, that was a big point."

He is an All-American who lead Dominican (His HS) to four-straight WIAA Division 4 state championships. His father was an All-American when he played HS ball in the 70's, and his mother played college Volleyball for Arkansas.

Its still early, but i havent seen any "big boards" with him in the top 10, but i suspect come draft time, he will slide in there.
