Over? It's never over. Michael Sam may not make it as an NFL player, but some young guy will continue the "quest to be the first gay player" storyline.

Remember when a bunch of *ss hats were saying it was "discrimination" the way he was "treated" because he won a college award? Those people look about as smart as the Tebow supporters and the people who thought TO could make it in the NBA.

Mike Garafolo:

Whoa, Jets' Sheldon Richardson suspended four games for violating the substances of abuse policy

Sheldon Richardson statement via the Jets: “I apologize for letting down my family, teammates, this organization and the fans. However, words aren't enough. This is something that can only be addressed by how I handle myself from this point on. I don't want this to take away from what the team is trying to accomplish. While I won't be there at the start of the regular season, I will do whatever I can to support my teammates until I'm able to return to the field.”

I'm still upset over the fact that we didn't draft Telvin in last year's draft:

Telvin Smith - LB - Jaguars

Jaguars WLB Telvin Smith is expected to remain in an every-down role.

Smith was a full-time starter from Week 12 on last year. Despite playing at 218 pounds, he graded out positively against the run over 723 snaps. Paul Posluszny is locked in opposite Smith in nickel packages.

A bit of a surprise that Christine Michael is on the roster bubble consider how Hawks fans hyped him as the heir apparent after Lynch was gone.

Wow. This guy really likes him some him.

My letter to my younger self would be more along the lines of the sports almanac Back To the Future style.

Adam Schefter:

KC's Justin Houston signed a 6-year, $101M deal that includes $52.5M GTD, richest Chiefs' deal in history, richest LB deal in NFL history.

I read somewhere that over the last two years Houston hasn't been penalized even once. That's crazy for a guy that gets to the QB as much as he does. Strictly speaking from a pass rushing perspective, he's every bit as good as JJ Watt.

Two things, though they might not change the overall idea very much:

1) Houston missed 5 games two years ago so he (only) played in 11 games that year.

2) He was penalized once in the wild card game in the playoffs two years ago.

Still a somewhat impressive feat? Sure. Just pointing minor details out.

I was trying to get cute and make a TI "Bring Em Out" reference by saying "Pick 'Em Up, Pick 'Em Up," but drew a blank on the second part. Good thing too, because the more I think about it, the more I think it wouldn't make that much of a difference. Everyone knows Seattle's playbook is somewhat vanilla - run Lynch like a battering ram and have Russell Wilson run around in circles til someone gets open like he is Mike Vick in Madden 2007.

SF might be able to ascertain some of the Hawks protection audibles, but not sure if that's worth taking another man's spot on our team. Unless of course our backfield looks like hot garbage during camp, in which case bring 'em out, bring 'em out! Haha.

That is a good idea. Just make it betting info on sports you don't follow.

I always hear great things about Ozzie for the Ravens' drafts/personnel, does he also do the contracts? We have someone other than the GM do a lot of that.

Pat Moriarty, the team’s senior vice president of football administration, has been a key part of the franchise since 1994. A longtime member of the Ravens’ personnel staff, Moriarty was one of the NFL’s original “capologists. He is responsible for the management and strategic planning of the Ravens’ salary cap. Moriarty’s NFL career began as a rookie free agent RB for the Browns in 1979. The Cleveland native negotiates all of the Ravens’ player contracts, oversees salary cap administration, roster management and the day-to-day operations of the player personnel department. Moriarty is the key liaison with the NFL Management Council and Players Association. Over the course of 20 years, Moriarty has negotiated player contracts totaling over $1 billion. He has negotiated contracts for 20 Ravens first-round draft choices, as well as numerous free agents. He

To say that Ozzie's job responsibility net doesn't bleed into this area somewhat would be foolish but Moriarty is the one more responsible than anybody for the contracts as you can see.

Thanks, Pozz. Man, if we had Ozzie, Moriarty, and their Harbaugh...

"Junior Seau’s Family Will Not Be Allowed to Speak at His Hall of Fame Induction"

One of those emotional appeals that, even if it makes sense, is still somewhat of a hard pill to swallow.

After being released by the Saints, linebacker Junior Galette is trash talking the team and airing dirty laundry on a huge, angry Twitter rant. Summary of what he's said so far:

From what I heard he denied the whole thing and said he nor his girlfriend have twitter. Would be a really boneheaded move on his part considering there are still 31 potential buyers out there. I'd put money on him landing in Dallas, only Jerry would take a flyer on his crazy ass (assuming all this true).

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/171729/2015-kansas-city-chiefs-training-camp-preview

Bubble watch: Cornerback Marcus Cooper began the past season as a starter but played so poorly he was quickly benched, and by the end of the season, the Chiefs thought so little of him that he didn't even suit up for games. After drafting Marcus Peters and Steven Nelson, the Chiefs have depth at cornerback. There won't be roster room for Cooper unless he shows significant improvement.
