There is something about him that reminds me of Barbosa.

Starting to really want to win the Pan Am gold. Canada has its B team out there...but USA has its D team. Brazil is a tough experienced veteran team and the one to beat...but from a talent standpoint Canada has the edge in the tournament.

I'm worried that Canada doesn't have the chemistry and intensity to win the gold. They've played somewhat complacently at times and there are stretches where they look like conk out defensively for entire quarters at a time. They'd better not lose to the US today.

I'd thought this be a good time to share this story that my friend told me last year when he was helping with stuff at training camp.

During one of the drills, Carl English and Nash had to partner up and the drill is pretty much stationary one handed passing off the dribble where you have to string together a series of combo moves before firing a pass to your partner standing 12-15 feet from you (I think the drill is commonly called the "Nash Passing Drill") which works on players making crisp and on target passes. Apparently, Nash was firing some off target passes because anyone that knows an excellent ball-handler you'll know they'll pound the ball really hard to get that feel and forces them to get out of their comfort zone so in games it makes handling the ball much easier and pretty much Carl English got upset and called out Nash for wasting his reps since the drill was taking longer than it's supposed to be. I'd never imagine someone saying that to a HOFer and the irony that it's called the Nash Passing Drill lol.

To be fair the Nash Passing Drill is named after Nash..

But the English language is named after Carl English...

So it's really a toss-up.

I went to the Canada game yesterday and stayed for the Brazil game so here are some notes from the games yesterday:

- Brazil dominated the US by just playing as a team. US play as a collection of individuals (alot like us last year) that just want to go ISO at every opportunity.
- Bobby Brown was getting very upset and it seemed to be throwing the entire team off
- Randolph is likely their most productive player
- Hollins was always very excitable and first guy to get up and cheer - could see him taking a role on a Mike Brown coaching staff if anyone is dumb enough to pay Mike Brown to coach again.
- Lima for Brazil was excellent. Could play in the NBA. Very active, good motor, good footwork. Shout out to my partner who called it in warmups.
-Jim Kelly took in both games and the place was littered with scouts.
- Tyler Ennis sat right in front of me as I waited for the second game, seemed like a nice, laid back guy willing to meet people's requests to take pictures, chat.
- Bennett has a prototypical NBA body, strong and athletic. The man can dunk. I was impressed by his demeanor too.
- Ejim can be an NBA player, also stuck around and signed autographs and took pictures after the game while other players rushed through. Good on him!
- Murray was so, so impressive. His shifting gears and ball handling constantly put defenders on the back foot. I hope future coaches don't coach the creativity out of him as he's oozing with it. A guy that just understands the game of basketball and what he's trying to achieve on the floor. Worked hard defensively at all times. I see a long NBA career and a top 5 selection in his future. STUD!
- Triano ripped into Nicholson a couple times for what I can guess was being too selfish and not passing. Good to see Jay holding people accountable to team ball regardless of their role.
- Heslip is a killer from 3. What is underrated is his ability to move off screens and get open to get his shot off. He consistently used picks to make room to get his shot off. Those in combination should make him a specialist off the bench guy.
- Mullins is probably the most underrated player on the roster for me.

Sorry for the format, I just wrote stream of consciousness.

Let's be honest, this is the USA's G team, or some letter far past that. Their roster is washed up, D-League material, or never-heard-of-ems.

I honestly think the USA could field 10-11 teams of players before they would have to trot this roster out.

Melo Trimble is a projected (late) lotto pick next year I believe.

CBCs programming schedule doesn't even mention which sports it's covering. Is tonight's game on CBC TV? How hard can it be to list what they're planning to cover?

He has to be the most deceptively talented players in NBA history. I remember seeing him dominate a game against the Lakers as a rookie and after the game was over Lamar Odom said he was stunned at how good he was and expected him to be in the HOF someday.

I don't think it's on CBC...it's on Sportsnet. I am wondering if it will be linked anywhere online in HD. If anyone knows the answer please let me know.
