Re: Does MKG Sign An Extension?
Kemba's salary is 15th among point guards (16th once Lillard's kicks in, he'll be making nearly double Kemba annually), which is more than fair.
Next year's cap will approach $90 million (the year after will exceed $100m) giving us almost $70 million in cap space. So even if we spend half that on Batum and MKG we'll have Kemba, Batum, MKG, Kaminsky, Zeller, Hawes, Hairston, and Harrison under contract (plus Lin's option and Lamb restricted) with $35m left over.
Not that concerned about spending.

I think your math is significantly off.
We'll have Kemba (12M), Hawes (6.3M), Zeller (5.3M), Kaminsky (3.2M), Hairston (1.3M), Lamb's RFA cap hold (~6M?), Troy Daniels RFA cap hold (~1M), and a draft pick (~2M). That alone is $37M and change. MKG and Batum combined could easily cost us $30M with the 2016 cap- and if Batum and MKG play really well, we could be looking at more. We will have significant money left over, but it won't be $35M.
But your point stands. We shouldn't even blink at $15M for MKG. Kemba at $12M will be less than 1/7 of the new cap. That's the equivalent of $8M a couple years ago.

MKG I think you pretty much supported his point with your math. Even assuming $37M as a correct calculation, plus $30M to Batum and MKG (could be more), that gives us $33M left over. That's not "significantly off" from the $35M he said before.

I dont expect the new cap to really make that big a difference. I doubt we will sign any all-star level players with it, just a few good players.

I actually did leave out Zeller, my bad there, but I was omitting cap holds to illustrate how much space we'll have should we renounce them. It's not a given we keep Lamb around (Lamb's hold is actually over $7.5m though) or PJ for that matter, as his contract has an option that we have until November to decide on. Draft pick is a fair point too, but you can always exceed the cap to sign rookies.
Basically just the actual cash committed. Fixing to add Zeller...
Kemba: $12m
Hawes: $6.3m
Zeller: $5.3m
Frank: $2.7m
Total = $26.4m
That's better. Still looking at $63m+ in cap space depending on the official audit.
Should we keep Harrison and PJ that knocks off another $2m, draft pick another 2-ish. Hell if we signed Batum and MKG for $30m total we'd still have enough for a 10+year vet max contract projected at around $29m.
Obviously plenty of space, but most teams are in the same boat.

When this cap rise what do minimum contracts become, $3mil and up?

The cap isn't 100M. It's in the mid to high 80s.

Re: Does MKG Sign An Extension?
Lamb will need to be measurably better than Hairston for him to be retained. With cap rising PJ is under contract until 2018. Also Harrison - he was a flyer on the cheap and if he pans out he'll be a team bargain 2016-17

The MLE and min salaries can't be changed till the new cba
there is going to be one hell of a lockout, might cost an entire season

Maybe but I don't see the massive increase in player salaries being the reason. The salaries are a function of team revenues so technically the owners are rooting for larger caps.
The other expenses like arena, support staff, loans, etc all remain constant so the owners are making out here.

Isn't it relative though? I mean, we might have more cap space next year but with the way annual salaries are going up it'll be the equivalent of $15 mil a year now?
It's not like we'll have some crazy surplus that will allow us to sign 2 or 3 high end players.

A 10+ year vet max contract projects to be about $29 million next year, so in theory we could sign multiple max guys. We probably won't, but we could.

And just think that within memory, George Shinn balked at giving Alonzo Mourning $10M per year.

Re: Does MKG Sign An Extension?
If anything it will be the players taking a harder stance during the next CBA discussions. The last CBA was negotiated after the financial crises and the owners said half the league was bleeding cash and claimed poverty.
Fast forward 5 years - Lebron is pressured to take < max even though an open market would net him upwards of $100 million annually. Owners of championship contenders salary dump to avoid tax hits. TV money is skyrocketing globally. Owners holding guns to the heads of local communities for arena deals.
All with the backdrop of a second tier franchise like the Clippers selling for $2 Billion. These richer player contracts will allow the NBAPA to better prepare for a protracted work stoppage.

That would be smart if they give him an extension. He'll probably get the max if CHA waits.
