We definitely could have moved Smith without trading the pick
You said definitely, so I assume you have a link/source of some kind showing and or detailing Stan's worst move as you put it.
I am really interested in discussing this, as it is the summer doldrums, and anything new to talk about is really welcomed.
Our discussions with Sacramento fell apart because SVG didn't want to take on Landry/Thompson/Derrick Williams. There was never mention of any pick in any of the rumors or articles.
Only thing that kept getting mentioned was that SVG didn't want to take on 10-13M of PF salaries without giving Smith a try.
We could have stretched Landry and kept Thompson who is partially guaranteed on the last year of his deal instead of stretching Smith for more money and destroying any team chemistry we might have established with him gone.
If Lance Stephenson and other trouble makers can get traded while on huge deals, Smith should have and could have been dealt as well.
