No.
We all know Pat is not inclined to youngens and builds around veterans & players w/ experience. Winslow was a surprise landing, we expected him to be much higher and we caught him. Riles was never going to trade him away for 4 1st rounders.

If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

Im confused, everyone was so happy that the heat got Winslow on draft night. That offer by the Celtics was reported on draft night, every fan I asked said they wouldnt take it. But now I hear a different sentiment. Is this all based on summer league play? Because thats insanity, you cant base a player's potential on summer league, fans these days.....

On draft day I probably would've taken the picks for sure.
Now I'm on the wait and see if Winslow becomes a star boat.
We'll know for sure in 3 years.

It was just a thought for me..... I love the Winslow pick...But you have to think about us not having first round picks for the next few years as goran, wade, bosh decline. But I am happy with our team....just a thought

We had to let go Napier and Zoran as it is, there was really no upside to having 4 picks instead of 1 IMO

bingo. no room for that many rookies/development projects when the FO is convinced they're a contender now. One of the reasons they're so happy with Winslow is because they know at the very least his body and poise are already NBA ready. With most rookies it's a waiting game for their bodies to catch up or for them to learn that they can't just force things like in college/HS. That's what makes Winslow seem like such a seamless fit in our win-now mentality while still offering a high ceiling for the future.

only 2 of those picks were for this year. So I guess that would mean dropping Ennis too.

In the draft Sacramento reached for WCS and Charlotte reached for Kaminski. We were not supposed to get Winslow.
#15 & #16 (which were offered) netted Oubre and Rozier (a 6'1" guard). We would have probably taken Dekker & Oubre or even Hollis-Jefferson. There would have been no interesting shooting guards outside of RJ Hunter (who went #28), a weak prospect with poor defense that would have never made the team.
The future Brooklyn pick is probably a lottery pick for next year. This was the best asset, but even so, I don't think Brooklyn will be a top 5 pick. They are better than that and there are teams that are excellent on being crappy.
The future Minnesota pick is protected (13-30) and then becomes two second round picks. In other words no real value at all.
So, the real question is would you rather have Winslow or the alternative (Oubre, Dekker, a first round pick next year at about the same place we are now but probably without the happy coincidence of both Sacramento and Charlotte reaching, and decent second round picks).
My choice is easy.

Even if Winslow does turn out to be a star, I agree with keeping the higher pick and going for the home run rather than picking up peaces. We are not a rebuilding team with a lot spots to use on developing players. We are looking to win a championship in 1-2 years before Wade retires. Winslow at least has the potential to help us in that task with the possibility of being a superstar down the road. I just hope people don't get down on Winslow when they realize that Josh Richardson is better than him at this point.

I still remember super athletic 18 year old T-Mac in Toronto with no consistent shot. Before he signed with the Magic as a FA I believe he averaged 14 points per game. He was 21 I think, and all of a sudden 25+ points per game and a force to be tecon with.
I see Winslow there sooner than later, and even more NBA ready than TMac body wise and poise wise. The main skills for NBA-NOW are there with natural handles and strong finishing at the rim.
Shooting will come in time and once it does he will be a tough one to cover.
Defense seems to be there already.

Lol if Winslow had TMac's size and crazy athleticism, he would not have dropped to 10. Tmac was a freak leaper and athlete. Just always hurt.

Athleticism is not just defined by jumping ability (lol), but many different factors such as quickness vs body weight vs speed etc etc etc.
Size is good if you know how to use it (wink ), however, who's going to say that TMac was more effective than DWade, even though DWade is 4 inches smaller.
I stand by what I said that the situation with TMac when he was an 18 year old reminds me of Winslow's current one. (Regardless of athleticism, height or different playing styles)
It seems as some are worried about Winslow being a shooter, or NBA ready. Well TMac was not NBA ready as an 18 year old either as far as his shooting amongst many other things. He developed the shot on the job.

I think his comparison has more to do with the leap Winslow can take developing a consistant jump shot
